Intervention Records Premium Reissue Features 100% Analog Mastering From Real Analog Tapes! Mastered by Kevin Gray At Cohearent Audio Dead Quiet 180-Gram Vinyl Pressed At RTI Exquisitely Restored Cover Art Printed By Stoughton. 30th Anniversary Edition! Synth-Pop Classic Featuring Smash Hits "Oh L'Amour," "Who Needs Love Like That," "My Heart ... So Blue" What if Depeche Mode just wanted to dance? Wonderland is the classic 1986 debut of Erasure, formed by songwriter/synth player Vince Clarke and singer Andy Bell. Produced by Flood, Wonderland is accessible and catchy synth pop, but also sharp, emotionally charged and redolent of heartache. Erasure delivered massive hits in the UK and the US with radio and club staples like “Oh L’Amour” and “Who Needs Love Like That.” Vince Clarke was a groundbreaking synth-pop pioneer before Wonderland. Prior to forming Erasure, Clarke wrote nearly all of songs on Depeche Mode’s iconic first album, Speak and Spell, before moving on to form Yazoo with Alison Moyet (Yaz in the US). Remarkably Clarke found Andy Bell by placing a newspaper ad. The flamboyant Bell was among pop’s first openly gay stars, and his high-pitched voice has a soulful power that’s an arresting complement to Clarke’s inspired melodies.

US v. UK 30th Anniversary Reissues
Just a note to clarify a bit of confusion I had when looking to buy a remastered reissue of this album on vinyl. There are currently two 30th Anniversary remasters of this album. The UK remaster/reissue has been produced by Pledge Music, they have also remastered and reissued five other Erasure albums all of which are available in the US on Amazon. The US remaster/reissue has been done by Intervention Records. As another reviewer has noted there is a critical difference on the song Oh l'amour between the UK and US albums. I originally had the US version on cassette and believe the US-released album version is vastly superior. As I continue to reconstitute my lost record collection from the 80's, I have experienced a wide range in remaster/reissue quality. The Intervention remaster and reissue of this album is amazing. 180-gram vinyl and the remaster is from copies of analog masters (go to the Intervention website for details). I couldn't be happier with the sound.

Wrong track listing
I bought this version because people were raving about the quality of the remaster. I knew the album well enough to know some of the flaws in the original mastering, but not really well enough to know whether this remaster is any better than Erasure's own version. Ultimately I was a bit disappointed by the decision to use the early US track listing rather than the definitive UK one - the Oh L'Amour mix is a nice novelty, but the omission of the lovely Push Me, Shove Me from an otherwise far-from-perfect album was a bit of a shame. Go with the one with the UK track listing.

Expanded edition of the UK version...Oh L'amour LP mix very different!
If, like me, you had the original U.S. version of Wonderland in the 80s, don't plan on getting rid of it and replacing it with this expanded edition. The track listings are slightly different. As others have mentioned, for instance, "Push Me Shove Me" was not on the US version, and also, the bonus tracks on the US CD were the 12" mixes of Oh L'amour and Who Needs Love Like That, which are on the CD2 on this edition (Who Needs Love remix renamed from Love that Mix version to Mexican mix). But most crucial, is that the US LP mix of Oh L'amour is like no other version--it's the version I used to hear on WLIR in NY and it is, in my opinion, the best version of the song. The UK mix to me sounds more like an edit of the 12" mix or something. So while it's nice to have a remaster with tons of bonus tracks, just know that you're not totally getting a replacement of your original US version.Track listing:CD1CD1-1 Who Needs Love Like That 3:19CD1-2 Reunion 3:25CD1-3 Cry So Easy 3:35CD1-4 Push Me Shove Me 5:10CD1-5 Heavenly Action 3:30CD1-6 Say What 3:56CD1-7 Love Is A Loser 3:02CD1-8 Senseless 3:26CD1-9 My Heart... So Blue 4:31CD1-10 Oh L'Amour 3:04CD1-11 Pistol 3:30CD1-12 Say What (Remix) 7:22CD1-13 March On Down The Line (Remix) 6:07CD1-14 Senseless (Remix) 5:06CD2CD2-1 Who Needs Love Like That (Mexican Mix) 6:11CD2-2 Push Me Shove Me (Extended As Far As Possible Mix) 4:09CD2-3 Don't Say No (Ruby Red Mix) 6:09CD2-4 Heavenly Action (12" Mix) 6:11CD2-5 March On Down The Line 3:46CD2-6 Oh L'Amour (PWL Funky Sisters Say 'Ooh La La') 7:17CD2-7 Gimme! Good Remaster
Fun to have a nice crisp sounding version of this cd. Vince Clark is a musical god so this is a great add to the collection.

'Wonderland' remastered yet "Push Me, Shove Me" remains unfaded
There were track variations between the original UK and USA versions of 'Wonderland'. The UK LP contained the "Who Needs Love (Like That)" single b-side "Push Me, Shove Me", which was a track not included on the USA edition. On the original UK CD release of 'Wonderland', there was a mastering defect where the song was not faded out as it did on the UK LP. When I heard this album was being remastered I had my hopes up that this annoying glitch would be corrected. No, it wasn't. "Push Me, Shove Me" is AGAIN not faded out and the song abruptly stops cold.Thankfully after ripping this CD to MP-3, I took "Push Me, Shove Me" into a sound editing program to properly fade out this song, something that SHOULD HAVE BEEN DONE during the remastering process. It's sad when I have to manually correct a job that someone at EMI got paid to do. Chalk another one up for quality control.
