This is the cutest story and the illustrations are amazing! I’m a preschool teacher and we’re using this for our summer curriculum. I LOVE that this is a true story and it has real life stories in the back about other octopuses shenanigans as well as facts and a picture of the real Inky before his escape. I love this book!

This is such a fun book, makes a great gift and a great story at bedtime!

This is based on an actual escape by on octopus from his tank in an aquarium in New Zealand and that makes this wonderful book even more appealing. The illustrations are large and vivid, perfect for capturing the attention of children and grownups. The book is in rhyme and Inky tells us, “ Out of this tank, I must be free. I must explore the open sea!” He laments that he has had fun playing gravel hockey and tentacle tag in his tank but he longs to break free to discover things he’s never known. His tankmate, Blotchy, prefers to remain in his comfy home and “ he doesn’t feel the pull to see the far and great unknown.” We root for Inky as he makes it to freedom in the open sea. The book includes Inky’s true story explained in addition to other true stories of octopus escapes. There are two pages of absolutely delightful and fun facts about octopuses. This is a fantastic book to add to your child’s library, I purchased the hardcover for my three year old grandson and I look forward to reading it to him. Highly recommended as a story of an aquatic animal longing for freedom. The happy true life ending is uplifting, even for grownups.

Perfect for kids interested in ocean life.

This book is a good read. The story line is easy for our son, age 5, to follow. The words are a nice blend of easy to challenging. The images invite substantive questions/opportunities for learning. And it’s about octopuses - what’s there not to love.

This was a cute story... my 9-year-old picked it out... I wish it had been a bit longer but it was fun to read.

Inky was a big hit with my 1st graders. Great addition to our class Ocean unit. a fun and factual book that gets kids involved in learning.

Has become a favorite in our house - relatively quick read for little kids with about 4-5 lines per page of rhyming prose. Great illustrations being story to life. Awesome facts at back with longer text. Highly recommend!

We have sat & read this multiple times since it arrived! Fantastic story. Beautiful illustrations. My six year old devoured this!! We laughed so much. Worth the cost, we now have octupus bedding & toyvto go with this.

My toddler absolutely loves this story. We didn’t know this when we bought it but it’s based on a real event and at the end of the book they give some more fun stories about octopus. Well written and fun visuals!

We love this book! A great bedtime read and more info on the last few pages makes it interesting for older kids too!
