I've found the lens to be extremely useful! The vendor's support team went above and beyond to assist me with urgent queries, exceeding expectations. I'm impressed with the lens quality and the exceptional support from the marketing and sales teams. Great experience overall!

Love the early receiving again with standard shipping. Crossed my wish list for this one. Cant ignore the quality on this similar to the 56mm. 2nd purchase from the same seller may buy again to complete a set with the 30mm remaining.

I have always been slightly wary of the cheaper end of the lens market, as I have been disappointed. However, I am going on a trip later in the year, and wanted a lens that was light in weight, and would be useful for general travel photography, plus for some good low-light shots and possibly Milky Way astrophotography. So I have opted for this Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN on my Nikon Z6III, and while this is technically an APS‑C (DX) lens mounted on a full‑frame body, it has turned out to be a surprisingly capable and enjoyable little prime. The camera automatically switches into DX mode, giving an effective focal length of around 24mm, which makes it ideal for street, travel, and low‑light shooting. I’ve taken it around my local area for testing for a mix of street scenes, interiors, and outdoor walks, and it’s proven to be a versatile and lightweight option. Build & Handling The lens feels solid and well‑made, even though it is predominantly plastic (but that was in part what appealed, as metal lenses are generally much heavier), very much in line with Sigma’s Contemporary series. It’s compact, the focus ring is smooth, and it balances nicely on the Z6III despite being designed for smaller bodies. There’s no aperture ring and no weather sealing, so it’s worth being mindful in rain or coastal environments. Even though it forces the camera into DX mode, the Z6III still feels responsive and snappy with it attached. Autofocus Performance AF performance has been better than expected for a third‑party DX lens on a full‑frame Nikon body. I found stills AF to be fast, accurate, and reliable in daylight. Eye/face detection on the Z6III still works well for environmental portraits. I was blown away by how well the lens works in low light: The f/1.4 aperture helps enormously. AF remains confident in dim interiors and night streets. I don't do much video work, but I did do a few minutes of recording, just to get a sense of how well the lens performs, and it did well on a tripod, so I could imagine that this lens could really appeal to a vlogger on a tight budget. Image Quality This is where the lens earns its reputation; surprisingly very sharp in the centre even at f/1.4. Corners (in DX mode) hold up well, considering the price, and if it were more expensive, I might have been tempted to take a star off the review, but you might want to consider this if it is something very important to you . Bokeh You don’t buy a 16mm for creamy background blur, but at f/1.4 you can get subject separation. The bokeh is smooth and pleasant, especially for close‑up street details or environmental portraits. Colour & Contrast Sigma’s rendering is punchy without being over‑processed. Colours look natural, and contrast holds up well even in harsh winter light. Flare & Sunstars Flare control is decent. You can provoke it if you try, but it’s not distracting. Stopped down, sunstars are clean and well‑defined. Vignetting & Distortion Some vignetting wide open, but nothing dramatic. In‑camera corrections handle distortion effectively. Low‑Light & Night Shooting This is one of the lens’s biggest strengths. The combination of a wide field of view and f/1.4 aperture makes it ideal for night streets, indoor cafés and bars, handheld low‑light shooting, and although I have yet to use this for astro attempts, I am pretty sure it will do a good job of photos of the Milky Way. If you enjoy evening walks or city‑at‑night photography, this lens is a joy. There are limitations, but I am keeping in mind that I got this lens at a special offer price in January 2026 at the price of £386, but even at the RRP of £459, and therefore I am much more forgiving. Those limitations include DX crop on a full‑frame body reduces resolution, no weather sealing, and some AF quirks may appear depending on lighting and movement, though nothing major in my testing. Summary The Sigma 16mm F1.4 DC DN is a fast and surprisingly capable wide‑angle prime that pairs well with the Nikon Z6III despite being a DX lens. It’s sharp, bright, and versatile, making it a great option for street, travel, low‑light, and video work. If you’re happy with the DX crop, it’s a genuinely enjoyable lens to shoot with.
