Needs good illumination and a steady hand!
I held off for a long time in getting a scanner, then bit the bullet and ordered one in the Black Friday deals as I had a part to scan. Much excitement when it arrived and got it going pretty quickly - the plaster Caesar head scanned perfectly, so test completed, I set about my task. I wanted to scan, then subtract the object from a moulding.Umm, my object had a lot of black, featureless surfaces and three hours later, festooned with markers, I still hadn't achieved a 3D shape. So I'm going to try a direct plaster mould of the cling filmed part and then cut and scan that....
