Great Crimper, Disappointing Case – Still Worth Having
For years, I’ve limped along with a cheap, no-frills electrical crimper—the kind you pick up in a starter kit and then wonder why it never seems to do quite what it’s supposed to. It didn’t have any leverage, the jaws didn’t line up quite right, and it always took more effort than it should’ve to get anything close to a solid crimp. With connectors evolving and Wago-style push connectors becoming more common in home projects, I wasn’t crimping wires every day. But I still do enough automotive wiring, off-grid power repairs, and outdoor LED work that it finally made sense to upgrade to something more precise. That’s where this KF CPTEC 9-piece crimping tool set came in. I picked this up mostly for its versatility—being able to switch out the jaws depending on the type of terminal is exactly what I wanted. Ferrules, heat shrink connectors, non-insulated terminals, even solar connectors—it all came covered in this one setup. That flexibility alone made it a smart addition to our tool collection. And unlike my old tool, this one’s got real leverage. It cuts the amount of pressure needed nearly in half, which I appreciate after long days where hand fatigue is real. The jaws seat into the handle firmly and change out without frustration, which isn’t something you can always say with these types of tools. Everything aligns exactly as it should, and once you start using it, you realize just how weak your previous crimps probably were. But then there’s the case. Honestly, the case feels like an afterthought. It’s one of those where you can’t immediately tell which side is up until it’s too late, and then you’re dealing with half the pieces falling out when you try to open it and lay it flat. The foam cutouts are more like rough placeholders than real inserts, and they don’t grip the pieces as well as they should—especially when it comes to the smaller interchangeable jaws. That would be less frustrating if it weren’t for the fact that this whole kit could easily fit into a smaller, more secure case with precision-cut foam. It’s not that there’s anything wrong with the tool itself—it’s just that a better storage solution would make a huge difference, especially for those of us who move our kits from the garage to the car and back again. So yes, I’m knocking off a star for the packaging and presentation, but make no mistake: this is a solid, reliable crimper that’s well worth having if you do any kind of regular electrical work. It’s leagues ahead of those old hardware store specials, and if you’re outfitting a DIY solar system or keeping your automotive wiring tight, this tool will pay for itself quickly. Just plan on maybe building your own case solution—or be ready to scoop pieces out of the bottom of your toolbox.

Works amazingly for my purpose
I got this set of crimpers because I do a lot of electrical work on my vehicles. Well, I add a lot of electrical things to my truck and I like to make good solid and clean connections with crimp barrels and terminals with environmental heat shrink and things like that. I needed a good crimper set instead of constantly using needle nose pliers or those cheap crimping tools that come with your typical terminal kits. (You know the ones I'm talking about) I have now thrown all of those in the garbage where they belong. This set of crimpers with the ratcheting jaws and quick change dies is a game changer for me. The jaws are clearly marked with the color code for the gauge wire and terminals that I am using. The crimping itself is sooo much easier on my hands now. These seem to be very durable and of a great build quality that should last me many years with proper care. They come in a nice foam lined clamshell style case that has cutouts for the crimpers as well as the extra dies. The case is not overly big but it does seem that they could have designed it a little smaller and still fit all the pieces into it easily. The quality of this tool, ease of use, and ease of replacement of the jaw sets make this item a great value for the $38 price tag (at the time of this review).

Good Quality Crimper with Excellent Assortment of Dies
I have several nice pairs of crimpers. But, with the exception of a hydraulic unit, all have fixed dies. This one is unique in that the dies are interchangeable. They give you a very nice assortment, as well. They will work with a very wide range of different terminal types. Sure, you can physically crimp on most small terminals with anything, even plyers in a pinch. But, if not done properly they won't be secure and may form a poor electrical connection. That can make the connection unreliable or even start a fire at high currents. These are very nice quality. The dies swap out in an instant. Chances are one will be perfect for your job. They are all stored in a nice compact case. The handle colors rendered yellow and orange for some reason to do with the camera's white balance. But, both photos are of the same tool. These are priced right and deserve five solid stars.

Good quality - work well - eliminates the need for having multiple different crimping tools
This is a very nice set of crimpers. The included jaws/attachments are good quality and very sturdy. I have a couple of other crimpers that only handle one type of crimp but these pretty much replace all of them with the swappable jaws. The crimper and wire stripper come in a plastic carrying case that holds all of the jaw pieces, which is nice for keeping it organized. Overall, these are very good quality and reasonably priced.

Impressed with the quality at this price point!
Working in low voltage, I use a LOT of crimp style connectors of various types. Primarily heat shrink, or similar depending on the task. While looking to outfit a small jump bag for around the house, I came across this ratcheting crimp tool . Here are my thoughts: The tool arrived lightning fast and were packaged extremely well in the sleek injection molded case. There is an instruction sheet that breaks down how they work, the dies, etc. It comes with a total of 4 sets of dies that cover the broad spectrum of common connector sizes. Luckily, none of the dies that came with this set of crimps were damaged, and they worked like they should. The coolest part about these is the quick die change feature. You literally press a button and the dies come out. Perfect! The adjustment on the side for tension is a feature found generally on much higher priced crimp tools. So that was nice. Overall, I have had a good experience with these, and am pleasantly surprised at how well they crimp, even some of the more stubborn connectors I utilize from time to time. For the money, you cannot beat these. I will definitely be putting them through the paces to see how long they last. Recommend!

KF CPTEC Crimping Tool Set with 5 different adaptors.
The tool arrives in a plastic case with the tool located in the lid and the adaptors in the bottom. This annoyed my unconsciousness until I figured out how to reverse the foam inserts so the tool would be located in the bottom part, as it’s the heaviest part. Now, it feels right to open the case. Haha. The tool itself feels solid, and the adaptors are easy to swap in and out. The only thing I could maybe be skeptical about is the plastic/rubber grip. Sometimes rubber gets sticky with age, I’m unsure why and sometimes baking soda can help get rid of the stickiness, but I have a feeling the handles might be the kind of rubber that will get sticky, but it’s yet to be seen. I’ll note that many of the other tools available for the same price appear to have similar looking handles and the handle is currently all fine. The second thing is the cost. I have since found several similar looking tools listed for a lower cost. I would say for the right price this tool is great and I would buy again.
