They Live: Collector’s Edition [Blu-ray] [Import]

日本版ブルーレイの特典内容があまり良くないと思っていたので今までパイオニア版DVDとWOWOWで放送された物で我慢していましたが今回このアメリカ版ブルーレイセットを購入しました。特典映像は2012年発売のアメリカ版ブルーレイとほぼ同じ様ですが音響が7.1サラウンド化されてます。UHDがドルビーアトモスで通常ブルーレイはDTSマスターオ－ディオ7.1サラウンドと言う商品アナウンスでしたが再生したら通常ブルーレイもドルビーアトモスでした！前作「パラダイム」の商品よりは低音の響きは控えめな印象ですが少し高額な日本版ブルーレイセットよりこちらのアメリカ版を選んで良かったです。だけど海外版は商品の表示間違いがたまにありますよね。予めお断りしておきますが、この商品には日本語字幕はありません。私の様なマニアの方にお勧めします！

Turns out that some economic entrepreneurs are in the process of exploiting people. (All people. O.K. the world.) They seem to have a different physical appearance than you or I and for the sake of keeping the exploration covert, have electronically masked themselves to appear normal. All is going well until the presents of this drifter come to LA looking for work. He finds himself in an unbelievable situation. Evidently malcontents have devised a way to spot these interlopers and are threatening exposure. He is skeptical at first then after a bout of fisticuffs will be forced to see the truth. Subsequently he becomes the most radical in a plot to blowup the masking devise and expose this cabal to the world. Will he succeed or are they clever enough to catch him at the last moment? A more sinister thought is will anyone care? カーペンターらしいアクションよりの侵略ものです。素のままでもいかがわしいメグ・フォスター、「物体X」からの登板キース・デビット、主演にはレスラーのロディ・ハイパーとキャストも異色。サングラスごしの洗脳映像をモノクロに、強烈な侵略者たちの素顔と、ビジュアルもいままでの作品以上に凝っていてアート的でさえあるほどです。あまりにも皮肉が効いていてあっけないエンディングも面白くて、爽快感さえあります。

「ゼイリブ」は高校生のころ日曜洋画劇場で何度もやっておりましたが，印象としてはなんかおもしろかったなあ，また観たいなあという程度。 「マトリックス」が公開されるずっと前ですから，この手のストーリーは新鮮でした。 今回購入して観たところ，思ったのは，あれ？こんなにチープだったっけ？というのと主人公役のロディ・パイパーがいい演技しているなあとい うこと。 ロディ・パイパー，いい味出してます。ほんと，いかにもアメリカにいそうな肉労者です。 エイリアン，こんなに覆面レスラーみたいだったかなあ？というのも再認識です。 あとヒロインの目が･･･トルコ石みたいな透明感のないブルーなのが怖い。あれ，自前の目だよな。 この映画は，ホラーとかＳＦとかの前に風刺もの・ブラックコメディです。 それを念頭に置いて観た方がいいです。 それにしても，「マウス・オブ・マッドネス」がまさかの字幕＆吹き替えありの再版なのだから，これも是非。 画質はやっぱりすごくきれいだったけど，やっぱりちゃんと台詞ありで観たい。 仕方なく英語字幕を表示してなんとなく台詞が理解できた感じで，しかも理解度30％です。

好きな映画がブルーレイ画質で観れるのはよいのですが、やはりとゆうか音声・字幕とも英語のみで内容は分かっていても充分には楽しめませんでした。せめて日本語字幕だけでもあれば・・・。

Great movie. Even more relevant today than when it came out.

Loved this movie on dvd. I bought the 4k as I wanted to see if 4k movies were actually better than dvds or blu rays. I gotta say that I was blown away by the look, feel and sound of the movie. It was like watching a new movie and my wife and I are now hooked on 4k movies. They Live is a wonderful 4k movie. Highly recommended :)

Carpenter flingue encore une fois la société et les USA en particulier. Ici il s'en prend aux médias, à la police et aux dirigeants, présentés ici comme de vils extra terretres.. Veritable plaidoyer sur la liberté de pensée sous couvert de science fiction serie B il nous livre encore une oeuvre majeure. Avec peu de moyens il parvient à realiser un film personnel et jamais ridicule. Honnêtement interprété par un Roddy Piper ( ici clone de Kurt Russel), avec une narration des plus fluides, et dotées de scènes on ne peut plus ironiques, Carpenter retrouve sa verve de '' New York 1997''. Le final à ce titre est une très grande réussite. A la fois drôle et dramatique il constitue le point culminant du film. Toujours très fin dans son propos en voilà un Carpenter qu'il faut redécouvrir. Sans vf ni sous titres mais avec sous-titres anglais pouvant aider les anglophones les plus lambdas, le bluray est superbe avec un piqué terrible. L'image sans coulure ni salissure est du plus bel effet. Bonus sympas avec Making of et interview de Carpenter. Attention Zone A.

John (thee "Rowdy" Roddy Piper, WWF Wrestling Legend) is a drifter in a new town looking for Construction work and a place to stay. A work buddy offers him a spot at a close-knit homeless shelter, which is all well and good until he notices that when his new found friends are watching TV, wierd "preachy" Broadcasts about "They" dominating us as a society and making us watch TV and buy stuff we really don't need keep coming up in a static haze through the clean-cut, regularly broadcast programmes. After Johns suspicions are already aroused, John wanders over into the local Episcopalian Church to discover some seriously shady goings-on after one of the people in the shelter goes into the Church looking just a bit shifty! There is no-one except about 4 men in the church, and all the singing and praise that can be heard outside is all recorded. One of the men notices John and argues with him about being in the Church uninvited and as John goes to leave he bangs into a wall which becomes loose, uncovering Boxes upon Boxes of what appears to be just... Sunglasses! However, Johns life is changed forever when he puts these Sunglasses on, as they uncover what the Hacker TV Broadcasts have been saying all along, now John can see clearly that all the subliminal "Watch TV", "Obey" messages underneath all the clean-cut adverts and magazines. John also gets more than he bargained for when he notices some of the public are... ALIENS!! Will John get anybody to believe what he's seeing? Where will he go from here knowing what he now knows? Prepare for the kick-arse adventure that is They Live! This is a great Movie, written by none other than John Carpenter (msny of us know him for the Horror Classic "Halloween"!) It has a great message, and tackles issues that were happening at the time with wit, intelligence, humor and plenty of action! Roddy Piper is absolutely fantastic as John Nada, and is abley backed by an all round brilliant Cast. There are some brilliant fighting moments (one of the Longest Fist Fights in Cinema History takes place in this film) and John has some great one-liners! The Disc is great because it also has a fair-few special features, such as a Featurette: The Making Of, Cast Profiles and the Original Trailer, so you'll be suitably impressed with this! They Live, We Sleep.
