How exactly does this clip to things? I'm trying to figure out if it would work for my desk at my job

The straps clip together to make a continuous loop which will fit over the tray table on the plane, however, I have yet to be on a plane with enough leg room for this to work at all. Cannot see how you would attach it to your desk.

Is this device approved by the faa? otherwise any airline can refuse to allow its use.

Hi there, our airplane foot hammock actually is FAA compliant. It doesn't protrude past the furthest point of the seat in front of you (meaning it doesn't hang in the row where people would need to walk). Before manufacturing our foot rest, we made sure to check with the FAA and most major airlines. We even tested them on a number of flights, showed them off to the flight crew and passed out samples to other travelers. Either way, the foot hammock is very discreet and won't cause any issues with the passengers in front of you, next to you, nor the airline crew. Hope that helps, and safe travels!

Would this be useful for someone 5'8"?

Can I use this if I'm sitting at a bulkhead seat? If so, how?

No. There wouldn't be anything to attach it to. You should look at one of the pillow style rests if you plan to sit in bulkhead seats.
