Installed in my garage on a 50amp circuit. This unit can provide up to 40amps and is extremely well built and reliable. No frills, fast charging and easy to use. Kinda expensive, but made in the USA and I prefer my house not catch fire due to using an inexpensive charger.

Mine was professionally installed in my garage, as recommended by Enphase. It just works. I plug it into my car and it starts charging. When the charge is completed, it shuts off automatically.

Durable It looks like it should last the life of the car. The price was right and ship fast.

I chose to go with the hardwired version after talking to my electrician. I also called Clipper Creek to ask if the sale price was going away and they told me that the new sale price was going to stay since they were able to find a way to manufacture it at a lower pricepoint. We love the charger and it was well worth the investment. We installed it in the garage, but we have found we actually run the cord out our garage side door and leave our van in the driveway to charge. It charges our Chrysler Pacifica Plug-In Hybrid in about 2 hours - much faster than the 12 hours it was taking with the level one charger it came with. It is very sturdy and the cord feels well manufactured. It comes with a wall mount for the charging head as well to protect it rather than letting it hang and potentially get damaged. In case you were wondering, our electrician charged us $435 to install it in our garage, although that price is variable depending on your situation and where you live. We're very happy with this purchase!

This review is our initial impression of the ClipperCreek 40 Amps, Level 2, 240 Volts, HCS-50 EV Charger Hardwired. We recently completed major electrification of our house as part of the upgrade, including installing a charger for our 2021 VW ID4. We were perfectly okay with using a 110-volt house current most of the time, but we sometimes had to do two or three charging sessions to top off the vehicle to an 80% charge level depending on vehicle usage. This was an issue when, as any EV owner will tell you, batteries don’t like cold. Also, in the use case was in using the vehicle for road trips and doing a charge to 100% takes a very long time on standard house current, and sitting at the high-speed charger for 30 minutes gets boring after the first ten or so times you do it (if you can find one that works). So why the ClipperCreek: 1. Supplied exactly the suitable current required for our ID4 2. Came in either a plugin or hardwired version 3. Indoor or outdoor usage (the electrician greatly appreciated the armored conduit hardwire) 4. Simple, simple, simple a. No app needed b. No Bluetooth or WIFI c. Install by an electrician took all of 15 minutes d. It is a straightforward interface - plug it into the vehicle with green lights and charges. Cons: 1. Not an intelligent unit – no apps, no talking to it, or wireless connectivity – can’t automatically take advantage of reduced electrical rates, if available 2. It might not be the prettiest unit 3. Cable does get stiff when it gets cold It is highly recommended if looking for what appears to be a bulletproof solution for charging your EV.
