Are there instructions for how long or often to use the device? If so, what is recommended?

Respiratory Muscle Training Target: 6 days a week----2 sessions per day (morning and evening)...2 sets of 10 breathes per session with a few minute rest between sets if needed. We always state to start at 1and 1 on the dial settings and increase weekly as tolerated. continue to use as directed, and you should be experiencing decreased dyspnea, increased O2 Saturations,better cough clearance, as well as better speech and swallow. Improved Quality of Life!!!! Your daily activities will improve due to the respiratory muscle strengthening and the strengthening of the diaphragm. THE KEY IS COMPLIANCE!!!!!! Is this the new design(2017)with the bigger mouthpiece and easy to turn dial as bob and brad mention in "simple breathing exercise for copd" video?

Yes, this is the device as seen on Bob and Brad. The device was redesigned and has a really comfortable mouthpiece for a good lip seal and it is especially good if you have a weak lip strength. The dials are very easy to turn and the settings are clearly market and nice and large so you can see the desired setting. The manufacturer, PN Medical has really good training videos on their website: www.pnmedical.com

Is there resistance on each inhalation and each exhalation?

Yes, it have resistance. The breather have 5 levels. 5 levels for inhalation and 5 levels for exhalation. If you are in therapy, the therapist evaluated your performance and increase the level. Personally, my therapist start me at second level. After 2 1/2 months are in third level. Part of the routine using the breather is how many inhalations and exhalations doing in specific time. But is great. If your consistence, you will be feeling the increase of your respiration and better vocal respond.

How does this compare to the Air Physio?

A slightly different device. But both are effective. I found the airphysio device very difficult to clean as the cap on the device was difficult to unscrew. Mike merbaum

muy bueno pero usar con cuidado

Es muy buen producto, no es para los que apenas empiezan la rehabilitación pulmonar pero posteriormente puede ser una gran herramienta. Recomiendo que un profesional te enseñe a usarlo, esta muy bien la app pero no es suficiente, cuando tienes daño pulmonar o dolor es diferente. Se limpia súper bien, es fácil de usar y es resistente.

Easy to use helps with strengthening lungs

This is a fantastic product recommended by my husband’s speech therapist. My husband is faithful in using it ( on his own). He says it makes his lungs feel good and he is able to speak louder now.
