learn to take great photographs with your Canon Rebel EOS t2i
I think this book is one of the best books out there on the Canon camera and on beginner and intermediate photography! This book can teach you what meny hours of expensive photography classes will teach you for a lot less money. This book works with any verson of the Canon Rebel EOS t2i. The book is written clearly and is easy to understand, even for the beginner, with technical and non technical information in it. There not a lot of booring extra information in this book. The author tell you just what you need to know and writes it in an intresting way. The book has beautiful photographs in it that he has gotton with his Canon Rebel EOS t2i and the author explains how he got them. Also, at the ends of the chapters there are excerises to do that help you to remember what you have just read. The author is a photographer with over twenty years of experience, has written other photography books and also teaches photography. I think he is a fine photographer from the way he teaches in the book. It is written to work together with your manuel to give you that much more knowledge of your camera. I've never seen a camera book written this way befor. He does not just to tell you what features you have on your camera and how to use them. He also teaches you how to take great photographs. He teaches what he has learned from all his years has a photographer. I think this book is idel for beginners and intermediate photographers on how to learn to to be a good photographer. From this book I have not only learned a lot about my Canon camera, but I have also learned how to take much better photographs. The only small draw back in the book is he does not teach you how to use all the featuers on you Canon Rebel EOS t2i, just most of them. The ones that he thinks you need to know to be able to take great photos. This is why I gave it four stars out of five. Besides this, I think this book is fantastic. You will definitly be glad that you bought this book!!!

Excellent in the paper form, okay for the Kindle
I do not take pictures for a living, but have take a photography class in college. I've used SLRs in the past and just upgraded to a Canon T2i and I was looking for a book to help me get back into thinking like a photographer. This book caught my eye in the bookstore and I checked to see if it was available in the Kindle app for the iPad. Trying to go digital in my bookshelf because of the iPad and i thought it would be better to have digital reference books with me when I am out taking pictures. In general the book is amazing. The one thing I appreciate most is the photography assignments at the end of the chapters. This is helping me to keep focused in practicing a specific subject with my new camera. The book is laid out very nicely with great photos and helpful instruction throughout. The author focuses on photo, buy touches on video, and gives you access to two additional chapters on using the camera for film. A very nice, unexpected bonus. I think the author says it best when describing his book is that it is for those wanting to go beyond the manual. Knowing the functions of the camera is important, but putting them into practice results in amazing photos. The book focuses on the latter.Kindle owners beware - while I rated this 5 stars for the paper version, I would have to give it a 3 for the Kindle. I am disappointed that all the photos in the book are too pixilated to be useful. If you look at the paper version the photos used as examples all have text callouts highlighting areas of the photo to consider when taking your own photo. I took a chance with the Kindle verision because I wanted a portable reference guide. Since I can't read the author's notes about the photos on the images I feel i am missing something. I plan to write the publisher and author to see if they can correct this for future readers of the Kindle version.

Must-have book for those upgrading from a point-and-shoot
I'm no pro photographer, but simply got tired of the slow response times and sub-par quality from the various point-and-shoot camera's I've owned over the years, and bought the Canon T2i. The camera is excellent and was well worth the investment. To go beyond the "full-auto" most everyone uses with the point-and-shoots, I wanted something to teach me about all of the features of this powerful camera. I looked at several books, and this one caught my eye, especially based on it's review for the T1i camera. I took a chance and bought it, and am extremely impressed. This book not only goes through all of the camera's photo features, but it actually teaches you the what, how, why, when, and where to use them all, with great examples, and even assignments at the end of each chapter. It's very well written, with sample photos, and descriptions of how they were each taken. There are a lot of tips, with easy-to-follow instructions for every feature and menu. After only going through a few chapters, I've already started taking better photos that I ever would have without this book. If you're a pro, you already know what's in this book. For those like me who just wanted to upgrade, this book will help you greatly to learn what you want to know about photography, and how to use the T2i to achieve the great results you want and need. What's a histogram and what does it tell you about the picture you just took? What is ISO and why is it better to turn off auto-ISO and use the ISO button on the camera instead? This book has the simple and easy to use answers. I was excited when I bought this camera, but this book has made me even more so since I'll now be able to use all of the cool features this camera has to offer. One thing to note: this book only touches upon the video features of the camera, but I didn't buy the camera for that anyway. The manual that came with the camera tells you how to shoot video, and that's good enough.

Canon EOS 550D, REBEL T2i From Snapshots to Great Shots
Canon EOS Rebel T2i / 550D: From Snapshots to Great Shots Very good book, I rarely read a book these days, however I read this from cover to cover, and then downloaded the "extra two chapters", The book itself is great at showing specifically how to set up the camera for optimal photo situations, much of the information on how to take great photos could be used by any DSLR owner. 10 Chapters 277 pages with clear picture guides on setting up the camera, it's not a user manual, avoids technical stuff like how many picture can be taken on such a resolution on such a memory card, but does refer you to the exact pages in the user manual where you will find that kind of information. I enjoyed this book immensely and I am sure my photography has benefitted from a greater knowledge of my Canon 550D and how to make better use of composition, use of shapes, depth of field etc. I would have given this book 5 stars, however the two "bonus" chapters have to be downloaded from the publishers website, these are potentially the ones you would really like 1 video and 2 accessories, these chapters were either too late to include or a marketing ploy by the publishers. A worthwhile investment if you own a 550D Canon EOS Rebel T2i / 550D: From Snapshots to Great Shots

Good book, annoying that two chapters are excluded
I haven't had a chance to read very much of this book, but so far I've like it.One major complaint is that to get the final two chapters (one on accessories, one on shooting in video mode), I will have to go to the publisher's website, register, type in the book's ISBN and then download them. The whole reason I bought the book is because I wanted to get all the information in one place. In spite of all the other positive things about the book, it annoys me that they've done it this way.If I remember, I'll add more to the review after referring to the book more.

Geoff Clinton
I know its all in the Canon Manual, but this book explained a number of areas of the Canon 500d which were not obvious from the manual. A very good introduction to the camera, well presented in a logical way. If you are a wiz kid in photography then apart from a few items this book is not for you. But if you are middle of the road or have just moved up from a point and shoot compact its well worth buying.

Excellent book for beginners
I love the way the book is structured:- very simple and dedicated to the EOS 550D- excellent illustrations (photos) with details on how the picture has been taken- you could read it without using the cameraNot for experts tough as they would probably look for more details.

Well written
A well written easy to read guide for a photography novice such as myself! If only I could remember what it says to do when I am actually taking the photos!
