Can't screw caps on part that pierces inground line. Flattened wires so cap stars OK but just turns & wont catch the threads to tighten. Any ideas?

You have to press down hard while holding on the bottom. I used a pair of pliers to help tighten.

Yes, that is what they are used for.

You can splice if you use the waterproof splices also on amazon. Be careful to watch the wire sizes to get the right connector
