Absolutely perfect, love it! Gift this!
Man I love this thing. I got it at $45, and I could not be happier with this purchase. It makes the ice quickly, and while it is a little noisy, it's no more noisy than my window ac, and way quieter than my high velocity fan (1450 cfm shop fan). I have trouble drinking water if it doesn't have ice, and this, dear lord, has made my lazy dreams come true. As I live in the upstairs of my house, and the stairway is narrow with thin steps, I'm not a great fan of using the stairs (I wear size 16 shoes, the steps barely are deep enough for my heel), so this has been a literal godsend for my laziness. I keep some jugs of water in my office, and between this and my coffee maker, I have devastated my propensity for dehydration. You just open the lid, take out the little basket, pour water in up to the line, put the little basket back in, close the lid, turn it on, choose small or large ice, and then start making your coffee. By the time your coffee is done (I have a 4 cup mini coffee maker) you'll have plenty of ice for your first cup, it's so simple and easy. By the time you make it through the pot, the little basket will be full of ice, and even if you take three full scoops out there will be plenty of ice left, and it's almost always been filled to the point that it stops making ice when I go to get ice, so it functions very quickly and the ice is fantastic whether large or small is chosen. I can't comment to its durability because... while it is portable, I use it as a stationary unit. This has made grinding grand marshal a much, much chiller task now that I don't have to walk across the house, navigate the terrible stairs, walk back across the house, do all the stuff I'm doing now, but 10 feet below my office, and then sit and wait for everything to get done with basically nothing productive to do while I'm waiting 10 minutes. Now I can be doing things like coding websites or doing graphic art, grinding my toon, practicing guitar or piano, drawing on my tablet, working through my retro backlog, cleaning my room and my office, whatever. It's seriously amazing and I love it. It IS basically a mini-fridge in terms of power draw, so for others looking to add this to their office setup, you may need to consider into which plug you're putting this so you don't overdraw the socket or blow a breaker.

It takes a while, but it works steadily and well
It works great! Our ancient refrigerator's ice maker died a while back, and we were getting tired of buying bags of ice. For the price of a few bags of ice, I got this ice maker, and it's just fine. I put it on the countertop next to the sink and let it run all afternoon, emptying the ice basket when it fills up. You can make small or large pieces of ice, shaped sort of like little thimbles. The large ones take more time to make, but they take up more space and contain more ice, so it's a wash. The unit will pause if the basket gets full or it runs or of water, but it's easy to tell when it's getting to the bottom of the tank -- it starts wheezing, trying to suck in water that isn't there. You'd think sitting on pause for a little while would melt all the ice, but it stays cold enough that it doesn't melt quickly. I do sometimes forget it's on, and I have to trot back into the kitchen to empty the basket or add water, and the ice in the basket hasn't meant enough to notice. All in all, it's a great appliance. It for us through the summer's cold drink demand, though it does take an afternoon a week to furnish enough ice for our needs. It's a good product and a good value.

Nice ice
Makes ice quickly in small batches. That’s fine with me since I am the only one who uses the ice. I just keep putting it in my freezer. Cleaning mode is easy to use. I have had it for a month now and sometimes I hear a squeaky noise, but it comes and goes and doesn’t seem to affect the ice at all. Nice machine.

Great ice maker!
This little ice machine has been a life saver. Originally bought it to have plenty of ice during the summer to help cool our chickens by placing ice cubes in a tray with bricks for cooling their feet. It has also helped to have extra ice on hand for parties or when we have company staying over. Our fridge can't keep up when there are more than just a few of us using it daily. This is a little noisy, but I keep it in a utility room away from the living area and kitchen so it isn't much of a bother. Plus the customer service is excellent. The first one had some issues and quit freezing, but they were quick to respond with a replacement. Haven't had an issue since and we've had it for a year now.

Don’t buy used
I bought this used. It’s very apparent after using it for a bit that whomever had it before had something happen to it and sent it in. In turn it was sent out without ensuring it worked as described. The lid has a dent and obviously had something heavy land on it. The auto shut off does not work and just screeches constantly when. There is no water in it. I am constantly aware of the water level for fear of fire when sleeping or away from home.

Best Value Icemaker!
I have been using this for about a week now and honestly for $50 its absolutely WORTH IT!! it makes ice so quick and is so convenient!. I was on a budget so i didn't expect much but this blew my expectations away! every time you need to refill just get some bottles of water and fill it up to the max fill line and that's it. for the water capacity It takes a quarter gallon to be full. I feel safe consuming the ice because its clean! Would definitely get another if i ever need. It was a little heavy taking it out the box and setting it up but that doesn't matter for me because its just sitting in one spot, also for the size its compact like a mini cooler. It works so well and if i ever need cleaning done it also has a self cleaning option which is neat. Also if you're thinking that its going to need constant refills then think again, i have a family of 4 and we use it 3 times a day and we had to refill it after 3 full days of use. it runs 24/7 and whenever the wife wants me to sleep on the couch i wouldn't have a problem with it because its not loud at all!

Finally got one and it has been such an apartment upgrade!!
Finally was able to try one of these countertop ice makers! (got it 50% off during Prime Days) Here is how I set it up, and it works awesome, if you check on it often, you can fill an ice bucket in your freezer, and then just cycle it during the day, using the fresh ice first, let it set overnight and any ice needs are met by the ice bucket stash! - Let it set for the recommended time to allow coolant to settle! - Use filtered water as recommended. - I filled the water basin to the "MAX" mark, inside the basin, used a clean cloth, dipped it in the water and wiped down the walls of the water well. - Washed off the basket and scoop. - Ran the machine until it needed water - dumping all ice into the sink as it made it. - Repeated this 4 times. - Then ran the machine all the rest of the day, into the evening. - Machine would fill the basket until it detected it was getting too full. - Lift basket out, tilt it around to let most excess water run off back into the basin. - Dump into ice bucket. (had clean plastic cup in bucket) - Repeated until ice bucket in freezer was full. (Used cup to break the prior ice up, since the moisture will always make them turn into icebergs- if you break it up before you dump the next basket in, you'll end up with a bucket of usable ice instead of 1 or 2 ice slabs.) I recommend dumping the new ice into one pile instead of spreading it out, quicker to break it up when the next basket is ready and you're not having to re-break the entire basket every time, just the last ice pile. Nearly a week in and we always have fresh ice and plenty of backup ice (3 people) with no issues! Its nice to finally have an ice-maker in this old apartment! no more $4 20 lb bag of ice nearly daily if you want to always have ice. No more traveling to get more ice, just always ice at home!

Lots of maintainance.
This is a fabulous ice maker. The issue that I have is, it will dump ice about every ten minutes, and it dumps to a holding chamber that is not refrigerated, and if you constantly do not babysit this product, the ice is so thin, that it melts quickly. I wish that when I reviewed this product, that this would have been addressed
