Game Warning Systems Deer Alert Whistle

We've used these alerts for decades on all of our vehicles. We live and travel rural, and had many encounters with wildlife. We've seen deer stand still, stop in their tracks, and even make a u-turn near us with these whistles. These need to be mounted where the wind can surround them (not on a bumper). We mount them on the corner of our hood so they raise during service visits. The drawbacks are - you must keep them clean. Dirt buildup and insects will cause them to hush. They also don't whistle until about 30mph (the nature of such devices). However, these whistles make sound that you can hear. This is important! The competitive whistles that you can't hear are subject to neglect, don't work, and you hit a deer (this happened to our son that swapped these GWS alerts for a "prettier" competitive product). Other drawback: Be careful when brushing snow off of your car. We buy these because they work!

Instructions say that in order to work one has to go at least 35 mph...I can hear a slight whooshing sound on the driver's side which is supposed to be an indicator of function.I found a great spot on my CRV side review mirrors, right on the extended arm (between car body and mirror part), pretty safe from road mud, etc.I've had units similar to these for many years and couldn't find them locally.. Naturally I've already misplaced the keys to remove them for cleaning.Knock wood, so far so good. The deer have decimated my garden, so I was really anxious to get these, especially for dusk in the fall when they start wandering around. I don't want a collision with deer...I know too many local folks who have had them!

Not sure why they ask you to rate the stars on this product as if it's a toy. It's not, but it's now been 6 months since we put this on and no deer. We had crashed our previous van in December from hitting a deer and found out about the deer whistle after the fact. The whistle has still stayed stuck on my car which is surprising. I really have no idea how to tell if it works or not, but I figure I'd rather try and do something to avoid another possible deer hit, than do nothing at all. Our drive home is down a long road that gets lots of deer crossing it at night.

I believe this product actually does work on deer and other animals. We live in a very rural, hilly area and something is always popping out in the road after dark. I've had this product for a few months now and nothing has run in front of me so far. This product was not made to last forever but if it stops me from hitting a deer, I have no qualms about replacing it occasionally and would recommend it to just about anyone.

I've never hit a deer with my car or motorcycle, but I've come really close with both. I installed the Deer Alert on my motorcycle after talking with a friend about his unfortunate encounter with a White Tail in California. Since I still haven't hit a deer and haven't come close since installing the alerts I can only assume they are working. I'd recommend this product.

The other day, I was taking my family to the airport at 3:30am, and while driving down I-5 at 70 MPH in pitch black, a deer appeared on the right shoulder, about to walk right in my path (I was driving in the right lane). Just as I began to slam on my breaks, the deer suddenly turned around and leapt off the road out of my way. Unbelievable! I've NEVER had a deer do that before, and I've encountered plenty (although not on I-5).My wife was laughing at me when I put these on, but quickly changed her mind after this happened.

I have used these for years and I think they work. A deer or other wild animal will look your way as the unit is heard by them. I have had them stop, turn and go away from a car with the alert units installed per instructions. They can be hidden behind the grill in front as long as they have direct air flow.

So far. I’m very happy with the game warning system. I purchased them because a deer ran into the side of my old car and wrote the car off. I have a new car now and want to be safe on the roads. I don’t want a deer or anything else to hit or jump out at me and my new car.

Gave them as a birthday gift to a friend and he is delighted with them, he can now travel round the highlands with a reduced risk of deer hitting his vehicle.

Arrived in a timely fashion and I didn't hit any deer while driving home from Western Canada enroute to Niagara Falls, Ontario.

These work perfect! Can watch the deer/moose run away from the road.
