The best radio in its class
A seriously good radio in a small package. This is equal to or outperforms my other small radios in both reception and sound quality. It's DSP but not unpleasant to tune. Locks onto stations fairly easily and doesn't pop off frequency when you move your hand away. I listen to AM at night and this performs about as well as another larger old GE analog from the 80s but this one does better separating two nearby stations compared to the old superhet. Excellent value. I don't think you'll find a better portable radio for less than $20.

Great little radio with awesome reception
This is an outstanding little radio. It is compact, colorful, and works off of 2 AA batteries. The D219 pulls in a ton of stations both on AM and FM which are the two bands I use the most. The speaker has good volume and doesn't break up at the higher levels like some other brands. It really has a lot of functions in such a small package. Great for traveling or trips to the park. Good for small groups where the listeners are within 20 yards. It is not a high power boom box...so, you can't rock a party out. But, for personal use or small groups...it is perfect. All the features are easy to use and understand. The antenna rotates to pick up many stations. The internal AM antenna is pretty stout and locks in stations without hesitation. If you need more antenna....Amazon sells both FM wire antennas and AM loop antennas for added reception needs. Otherwise, this little radio is an AllStar! Very happy with this unit...especially for the sale price of $12 that it has been selling for during the holiday season. Get yours before it's too late. This is not my only radio...I have quite a few and always enjoy finding another one with great reception and features. I want to thank Todderbert on youtube for directing me to this item. Go check him out for radio reviews and Amazon links. The light blue/green color is also very cool and Miami Vice in flavor(if you remember the 1980's). Also, this is the updated version with 1K reception for the US market.

Good for Value ..nostalgia and transistor radio reminder with Short wave bonus done DSP
Nice am and FM radio like the old transistor radios of nostalgia. Expect NOT short wave reception like a quality SW receiver though...but gets strong stations. Use large wire antenna. But hey, for under $20 would make a dandy emergency radio

Great little radio
While I just received this little gem I can say that I'm enjoying it greatly. The sensitivity and sound quality are very good, and compare favorably with my old Grundig TR II. This review is written with less product experience than I prefer but my D-219 had a quirk that I thought I should let people know about so that, hopefully, someone won't make the same mistake that I almost did. When I was ready to try the radio out I chose two Ni-Cad batteries to see how much operation they'd provide. But when I turned on the radio nothing happened! After trying Ni-MH and Alkaline batteries with the same result I decided that I had to return it. I thought I'd get one more data point so I connected my universal AC adapter at 4.5v. When I turned the radio on it worked, so the problem was with the battery circuitry. But when I disconnected the adapter and turned it on again it powered up! The contact that isolates the batteries from the 5v supplied by an adapter must have been stuck open and was able to close after I disconnected the AC adapter and it has been fine ever since. I hope this helps!

okay for AM and FM
Cute radio. Okay build quality. Good reception on AM and FM. Very tiny sound. Not good even for speech/news, very bad for music. There are radios with much better sound/speaker in the same size/price range. Sound over headphones is better. No stereo on FM but at least the mono sound comes out though both earpieces. Power LED. Pretty useless and annoying at night. Some controls are off-white (band selection and tuning wheel) others (volume) are black. Strange. Exterior color is painted on. Any scratch would show the off-white plastic body (fully on display inside the battery compartment). Biggest issue (and the main reason for returning it): SW reception. There is strong interference/bleed-through from AM stations, to such a degree to make SW useless on this radio. Other radios in this size and price range (including other XHDATA radios) do not have this issue, or at least not as pronounced.

Small in size, big in features
Nice small sized radio. I have picked up several shortwave stations with it. Due to small size of speaker, do not expect high quality audio sound. You’ll need headphones for that. But works well for its size and would be great for fishing trips, camping, or just general portable listening.

Great radio
One of, if not, the best receivers at low price point. The special color makes it sound even better.

I would say that for the price you can’t beat this little radio. selectivity and sensitivity on the a.m. and FM bands are very good.. The short wave band definitely needs a boost from an external antenna, so I paired this unit with an antenna from the same brand the SW001. I have the antenna strung across my bedroom near the window on the ceiling for a length of about 20 feet and it does a very nice job.. unfortunately here in North America there’s not much to be had in the way of English short wave broadcast unless you like listening to religious channels. I get quite a few Spanish-speaking broadcasts, but unfortunately I don’t speak Spanish. I’ve only had the Radio for a couple of weeks and can say I am quite pleased with it now hopefully it shows some decent durability.
