I bought the Roborock 7 months ago (June 2025), and as of today (February 2026) it will not vacuum correctly. It does not pick up simple dirt (no suction from vacuum), now it does not recognize my house and it’s so loud, that I can’t run it when home due to loudness! As to before it was super quiet & I could run while home with no bother. I have a cat, so between the cat hair and my long hair, in the beginning (first 5 months), it would vacuum perfectly and pick up smoothly! I would come home to clean floors!! But I notice 6 months in, it was starting to make very loud noise when it starts, then it eventually stopped picking up hair and simply daily dirt that your floors collect. I bought this specific vacuum because it said it works on pet hair, obviously not!! I spent $300+ for this vacuum just to work properly for six (6) months - very heart breaking. I bought it because reviews seem to work well - but it’s been completely opposite for me after just 6 months of owning it. I clean the vacuum after each use, which was set to 3 times a week, but now set to daily to “try” to vacuum what it can. I find myself going back to old school - broom and mop! When I take off my shoes, when I walk on my floors, I can feel the dirt on the bottom of my feet cause the vacuum didn’t pick up anything. Unless you want to spend your money for something to work just six months, then don’t buy! You will find yourself disappointed that you invested in something that doesn’t work. I sure do hope this vendor reaches out to me to make it right - but i doubt it.

When this vacuum works, it works very well. Powerful suction. Extremely quiet. The bin holds more dirt than one would expect, making it less often you have to manually empty it. When it fails it’s a shock. It has three major failings: 1. Carpet fringe. The is the most annoying because the vacuum is advertised as having anti-tangle technology. It doesn’t. It fails on any semblance of fringe or threads. 2. The corners of carpets. If it tries to go from hard flooring to a carpet by approaching in a way that the corner of the carpet goes under the vacuum it gets stuck. If it is on the corner of a carpet it cannot turn or go forward or backward but it continues to try to do so, causing a horrible sputtering sound. 3. It maps whenever it is vacuuming and makes mistakes it when it does so, requiring to send it out on a mapping task.

Q10 S5. After 6 years my old robot vac just lost its way. Really, it could no longer find the dock even though it knew where to look. Research said the Q10 S5 was a new unit and woould work well. Can confirm. This works as expected. With two cats we get lots of shedding and this picks up most of it. There is one carpet that we occassionally use a powerful upright to deep clean the fur but for day to day the Roborock does the trick. In fact, we bought a second related Q10. The second, Q10 X5 is used upstairs which is all carpet. Picks up the fur and clay litter sand that gets tracked everywhere. The S5 is used downstairs because it has a better mopping capability. We haven't tested the mopping part yet. It can navigate switches from hardwood to area rugs with ease. The quick mapping is amazing. Lots of technical progress in the years since our last non-Roborock unit. Setting no-go areas is fairly easy but hard to do fine placement. And, while the official limit is 10 no-go areas I can only save 5 per map. Suction is very good. To affect a good emptying of the dust bin takes opening the side panel and removal of the filter to get to the debris stuck to it and elsewhere in the bin. I wonder if the plus version would have been worth the extra money. Battery life has been sufficient to cover about 900sf of carpet at high suction, single pass. Would probably do a double pass using the mid-level suction. All vacs make noise but it is less so than our uprights and slightly less than our old robot vac. I like that it does a good job, quickly, avoids obstacles and does so at a price that is much less than many more expensive models.

All in all, pretty great. But i was disappointed that this model -Q10 S - doesn’t come w the tank/trash(?) bin as pictured in the Amazon listing. (I assume that’s for the S+?) I’m keeping, though, as I’ve already mapped the house and fine-tuned the map. It vacs and mops great (be sure to wet your mop before you use that feature.) The vacuumed debris is on-board and is about the size of two decks of cards. Unfortunately, emptying it makes me sneeze, so I’ll have to wear a mask. Only other complaint is that the instructions aren't that good. I thought you had to turn it over to get at the mop pad, but luckily someone on YouTube walked through all the instructions clearly. There are two small release buttons on the mop side and you slide the mop and its tray out. You then have to un-velcro the pad and slide the other side out of the groove. Reverse to replace the mop pad. Other than that, the vac itself is a marvel. Super smart, and you can customize your map. Just takes some learning. Would i buy again? No, I’d buy a model w the tank and dust bin. I did order a 2-pack of extra filters and a 2-pack of extra mop pads. House smells so good after a cleaning. Yay, Roborock!

This is my second robot vacuum after my first one croaked. I was so impressed by the app integration! It works quickly in my apartment and typically finishes a cycle without an issue — unless I leave things on the floor that get stuck. As a single professional with two cats, this helps significantly with tracked litter and fur for daily maintenance. I’ve been running the vacuum almost every day for the past months and this has been a noticeable improvement in my life! However, the mopping function was streaky for me, so I primarily use the vacuum.
