Took a long time to grow it outside. I watered it, kept in indirect sunlight for almost 3 months and then it started to sprout. Once it got 6 inches tall and had enough leaves, I'd pull off a few every few days and my cat'ls went wild over it. They'd smell it from inside the house and would follow me around meowing for it lol. A lot of work and waiting, when buying already ground catnip is so much easier.

I planted these in a bunch of starter pots in my kitchen, hoping to grow some catnip to amuse our cat. Out of all those seeds, eventually about 10 or 12 actually sprouted. I nurtured them according to the instructions, but after many weeks, they just weren't growing anymore -- they got to be about 1/2" to 1" tall, and then simply stopped getting any bigger. I tried fertilizing them, I tried putting them outside in the sun -- nothing helped. They didn't die, but they just didn't grow. I finally threw them all out....

I have little gardening experience, but these catnip seeds were very easy to grow. I direct-sowed them in mid-May into four pots (7–8.5" diameter, 6–7" tall) using a mix of: --2 parts garden soil --2 parts peat moss --1 part compost --1/2 part crushed dried leaves --1/2 part cow manure Despite several summer heatwaves, by mid-August each pot was completely filled, and the plants were flowering. They also attract bees, which is great for pollinators. Care Notes Catnip is a perennial in many climates, so it should come back next year. I didn’t prune them, so they grew tall rather than bushy. Next year I’ll prune for a fuller look. Cats are known to enjoy it, though mine haven’t tried it yet. Some sources say catnip can deter mosquitoes, but I still got bitten. It might be more effective if you crush the leaves to release the scent. Overall If you’re a beginner gardener, this is a low-maintenance, high-reward plant that grows fast, handles heat well, and even flowers in its first season.

Growing from seeds is hit and miss for me. Swing and s miss. Maybe my withered green thumb. Maybe just baccd luck with seeds. I suggest doing what I didn't: add potting soil to the raised garden, and mulch the rows between.
