Compact, Inkless, and Travel-Ready — Perfect for Printing on the Fly!
The Phomemo M08F Pro Portable Printer has completely changed the way I handle documents when I’m traveling or working remotely. If you’re looking for a sleek, reliable, and ultra-portable printer that doesn't require ink or a wired connection, this little powerhouse delivers in every way. What immediately stands out is how lightweight and slim the design is — it’s about the size of a rolled-up magazine and fits easily into a backpack, laptop case, or carry-on. The included carrying case adds an extra layer of protection, which is a thoughtful touch for anyone who’s always on the move. Setup is incredibly user-friendly. It connects effortlessly via Bluetooth to both iOS and Android devices, and I’ve also used it with my laptop via USB without a hitch. The companion app is clean and intuitive, making it easy to print documents straight from cloud storage or your phone’s files. No confusing menus, no messy drivers — just a straightforward print experience. The thermal printing technology is where this printer really shines. Since it doesn’t require ink or toner, there’s no mess, no expensive cartridges to replace, and less to worry about overall. It prints crisp, clear black-and-white documents on standard US letter-sized thermal paper (8.5” x 11”), which is surprisingly easy to find online. Perfect for invoices, contracts, receipts, shipping labels, and even notes or itineraries while traveling. Print speed is fast for a portable unit, and the quality is more than good enough for most text-heavy documents. Just note that it’s not intended for high-resolution graphics or color printing, but it excels in exactly what it’s built for — clean, on-demand black-and-white prints anywhere you go. Battery life is excellent. A full charge has lasted me through multiple days of intermittent printing, and recharging via USB-C is quick and convenient. Whether you're a student, business traveler, field worker, or just someone who needs occasional portable printing without the bulk or hassle of traditional printers, the Phomemo M08F Pro is a solid investment. It’s modern, efficient, and genuinely useful in a way that makes you wonder how you ever got by without it.

Excellent Portable Thermal Printer
I found this compact Thermal printer to be a quality product that produces very good print results. The included instruction sheet was very clear on setup with understandable English and good graphics that walk you through hookup with a supplied cable to a PC or a Bluetooth connection and downloading the drivers online. The printer is very portable in an excellent hard carry case that has a webbing pocket and strap on one side for holding the charging cable which doubles as the PC connection cable, instruction sheet and other small accessories. The carry case is small enough to fit in my laptop backpack and does not weigh much, just 2.5 pounds, the convenience for me to have a printer with me on the road far outweighs the added weight. Included with the printer is about 10 sheets of thermal paper to get started which I thought was a generous addition. Amazon has thermal paper available, I ordered some and paid about 10 cents a sheet, a reasonable price I think for the use I will be getting from this printer. I really like that the printer is battery operated to cut down on having to have it plugged in for every use. After downloading the drivers to my laptop the connection was incredibly easy and the printer worked perfectly on the first try. I am positively impressed with the quality of the printing this puts out, the clarity of the print is very readable, even the smallest fine print is distinguishable. Another great feature for me is it requires no toner or ink to mess with, which I think will offset the cost of those and make it a good value in the long run. I still have to have toner for my laser printer on my desk for color printing, this printer only prints in black and white, but I will be able to cut back on black toner on my laser printer when color is not necessary. I am very impressed with the build quality of this printer, it seems very solid. When printing it sounds just like a fax machine. I can find no cons to share about this thermal printer at this time, I think I will get a lot of use from it.

Handy and portable thermal printer
This is a handy portable thermal printer that has app capability for your phone. Bluetooth connectivity does work but the WiFi connectivity seems to be nonexistent which seems weird because most of my wireless computer peripherals come with WiFi connectivity, including the cheapest ones I get from Temu that can become their own access point. For MacBook Pro it has both the drivers setup from the website and WiFi access setup but that doesn’t want to work because of an issue with the usb-c connection, which many computers have and my version of MBP only has. So the instructions mention if you have an issue with the USB-C connectivity that you need some USB-A connector to adapt the USB-c… no idea what they are talking about and they should have included the connector to make this work out of the box, or their app/webstore needs to sell what is necessary for their gear to work. If you have Windows, then this just goes through the setup wizard with no problem but also no AP setup prompt. I’m done trying to figure it out because it gave me a headache after hours of trying to make it work (it also says not to connect through a dock with usb-a for the issue). It does come with a few pages of thermal paper and you can buy more through the app/webstore. The case comes with it and that addition adds value and keeps your printer safe. Do not put regular paper in it because thermal paper is the only way to get an image to show up. This also does tattoo transfer paper thermal printing which is cool for those who need that as an option, especially tattoo artists who travel or rent a booth. This is great for mobile notaries so they can print on the go, but the paper is not really cheap, small jobs are best for this as you load each sheet one at a time unless you buy the roll of paper and roll adapter.

I am a relative newcomer to thermal printing, using it in my home office for label printing and now I've discovered the benefits of using thermal printing for (almost) everything because it's so easy, fast and completely mess-free with no ink to smudge or run, no toner to spill and stain and thermal printing is waterproof too. This printer is just brilliant, particularly for quick and easy printing on the spot. As a travel writer spending half of my week, every week, on the road and usually off-grid, it means I can print documents, photos, memos anywhere without being reliant on a power supply because it is USB rechargeable. Its compact size of just 31x7x4cm and weighing a mere 715g means it is also highly portable - even a carrying case is included which slips into a travel bag. It requires A4 thermal paper (note - the printer uses only thermal A4 paper and doesn't print labels) and documents can be printed direct from a phone or tablet using the Phomemo app. It is equally at home connected to a laptop or desktop too and can be used as a conventional printer simply by installing it as an additional printer then selecting it when printing a job. I use Win 11 and Win 10, downloaded the printer driver from the Phomemo website. I've used it to print Word documents and PDF booklets prepared via DTP (desktop publishing) and, if anything needs scanning, this is performed by photographing a document by phone instead providing a very speedy scanning-solution. The phone app works reliably on my Android 11 and Android 12 devices, is highly intuitive to use and includes a wide selection of graphics to use for reports, documents, even calendars (although the 2022 calendar graphics should perhaps be deleted from the 2023 app download). Print quality is good, whether for text or images and the printer has proven completely reliable for me with no paper jams or failed pick-ups, unlike my now seldom-used and prone-to-clogging inkjet (HP Envy) and laser printers which are prone to faults, particularly on the paper-pickup. Paper can be fed a sheet at a time for small jobs or folded paper in a 'stack' which feeds automatically, hands-free, into the printer for non-attended jobs and, suddenly, 'ink-heavy' jobs are no longer an issue because this printer doesn't use any ink or toner making it ideal for printing image-heavy reports without draining ink/toner cartridges (although colour images are sometimes best when converted to grayscale prior to printing). Pros of thermal printing: Highly portable - compact and USB rechargeable Can be used in the home/office or off-grid Uses no ink or toner so no mess and nothing to leak, smudge or spill Reliable Quick and easy Cons Thermal paper is more expensive than standard paper Image printing quality doesn't match standard printing Printing can fade in time so it isn't suitable for documents to be retained for longer periods This Phomemo printer has proven to be a completely reliable, highly portable, quality printer for use with a phone, tablet, laptop or desktop and it is the ideal purchase for quick and easy printing, particularly away from the office or home.

The first thing I noticed when unpacking this printer is that it's really solid and well built. In fact I was surprised at the weight, not that it's too heavy, but considering its small size, it must have a fair amount of metal structure inside. This suggests to me that it's pretty durable and robust for carrying. The printer obviously uses thermal technology to produce the print, so all the paper used must be compatible with that. This has its pros and cons. Thermal paper costs a lot more than plain paper, the downside, but on the positive side, there is no ink cartridges and no mess when printing. IN terms of cost, it does cost more to print on thermal paper, so the pro and con is not equal, but the main advantage is the convenience, size of the printer and the fact that this device is so portable. On that note, the case it comes in is a delight to carry and adds so little bulk in my laptop rucksack. This is the real delight of this printer. I can take it anywhere I go and print wirelessly (bluetooth) and without a power supply (built in battery) It's all about convenience and portability. This is what we are paying for. Not ideal for a long document of several pages, but just right for those notes, letters and PDFs. The printer is easy to setup once the app is installed. The only downside is that it always seems to default to this printer when I print a document, whereas I use another label printer sometimes. This means I do have to go into options and select a different printer. Not a big issue, just worth noting. A small word about the included paper. It seems a poor advert to add a few sheets of thermal paper (20) in a crumpled up package just because the printer case is small. I found these sample papers difficult to use and load and it gave a bad impression on first use. MY advice is to get some properly supplied thermal paper, that's flat and ready to use, oh, and don't store this in a bright or sunlight area, as it can have a bad effect on the print quality if it gets exposed to light for too long. A really nice printer, so compact and portable, I look forward to the time when a colour version is brought out, and yes, they do exist, although they do cost a lot more than this one.

Even though I knew this was a portable printer, I was still pleasantly surprised by the size. The supplied carry case is very good and protects the printer in transit so you can be quite confident with it in a suitcase or rucksack. In terms of portability that's all great, except... you need A4 paper to put through it. As it won't print on normal paper, you either need a guaranteed supply of thermal paper at your travel destination or carry it with you in such a way that it's protected. Something to bear in mind. The printer can print via a cable from Windows or through Bluetooth from a device like a phone, via an app available for Apple or Android. This is all very simple and straightforward to use. So to print quality. Well, remember that portability is the key advantage of this device. Print quality is better than I expected from a thermal printer, which is to say that it's usable but not as good as an inkjet or laser for critical use. For printing boarding passes, itineraries, tickets guides, directions etc. it should be perfectly good. I wouldn't use it for documents that need to be stored in the longer term as the output can be subject to fading over time or if left in sunlight. It's nice to use a printer that doesn't take a large sip of ink every time you turn it on, or need spare cartridges or toner. Naturally you need a supply of paper and thermal paper isn't something you can pick up from the supermarket if you run out. It's also more expensive than standard A4 paper. If you regularly travel and need to print on the go, this is a good solution. As a space saver for the home, you might want to consider the trade-off in quality of output compared to ink or laser.

Compact lightwight, portable thermal printer contained in a sturdy zipped travel case. It is powered by the provided USB cable and charges quickly and holds the charge for a long time. Setting up was easy with the app and it connects via bluetooth or wireless to Android, IOS or Windows. No ink is required but it is essential that a compatible thermal paper is used and that is considerably more expensive than a ream of copier paper. Thermal paper is notoriously flimsy and I would only use this printer if no alternative was available and only for personal use. I do not think it is good enough to use for sending letters or invoices, unless an emergency. However It does a decent job of black and white images especially for boarding passes or photo id purposes. So, there are a few occaissions when it would work for me especially when I am travelling and I would rather have it than not. Each sheet of paper needs manually fed for a multi page document and that is a drawback, but if necessary then I have that option if I have the time, because, it is very slow, with a full page of text taking up to a minute to print depending on the coverage. The print quality is better than any other thermal printer I have used or seen, but it is dotty and no where close to laser or ink jet, but acceptable under certain circumstances. I have used 2 other thermal printers, and if you need one this was better than those I have used before or seen examples of and the price is right compared to others. Not perfect but one of the better thermal printers out there in this quality and price range.

The supplied case is a thoughtful addition, holding not only the printer but also a few sheets of paper, making it a compact and convenient package. The simplicity and efficiency of inkless printing have saved me from the hassle of dealing with ink cartridges. It's a cost-effective and environmentally friendly choice that aligns perfectly with my printing needs. The versatility of being able to connect the printer to both my phone and laptop is a feature I truly appreciate.
