These are NOT the pre-bankruptcy-Hostess-quality cherry pies. These smell and taste fried in Chinese restaurant oil, coated in inexplicably bitter icing, with almost no fruit flavor, much less fruit. Arrived all busted in half and leaking. But super fresh! I SO wanted to believe that pre-bankruptcy Hostess was back, but they're not. Whoever manufactured these has no pride, no palate, and no business being in the human food industry. I can't BELIEVE anyone rated these more than 2 stars. Severe buyer's remorse. I won't be fooled again.

Purchased and delivered to a good friend who can’t find them in his area. Really made his day to come home to find 2 boxes of his favorite Hostess pies!

Personally I thought this had plenty of cherries in it and it was a substantial size for the money paid with a tasty filling but there is a slight rancid taste in the crust similar to shortening that has gone bad which is probably one of the ingredients used to make the crust. I would’ve contacted the seller personally but could not figure out how to do that. I will purchase this product again simply because I think it’s a good buy but I’m hoping the next set that I purchase does not have this rancid flavor because then I will no longer be able to put my money into it.

I used to eat Hostess fruit pies back in the 80's when I was in school. They were incredible!! I can vividly remember the taste, texture, etc. Unfortunately, what Hostess is producing now is a far inferior, very degraded product. It is nothing like the original fruit pies. The crust is horrible. It has a bland, flavorless, almost lard-like taste and consistency. It doesn't even taste like pie crust. It's just garbage. I'll try to find some other brands in hopes of being able to find something that resembles the original Hostess fruit pies. I really wish Hostess would go back to their former recipe and processing. These current "fruit pies" aren't even similar. If I were to rate them on a scale from 1-10, I would give the 1980's fruit pies a "10" and I would give the current product a "2". It's that much different. Sad. I would buy them if they fixed this.
