Quality and lasts
This is a great clumping litter that effectively lasts while also repelling unpleasant odors. Its formula ensures excellent clumping, making cleanup quick and hassle-free. The odor control is impressive, keeping the litter box fresh for longer periods and creating a more pleasant environment for both pets and their owners. Overall, it’s an excellent choice for cat owners looking for reliable performance and extended freshness.

Great clumping even in an automatic litter box, low dust and fast drying
I use this litter in an automatic litter box and have been very happy with how it performs, especially compared to other clay litters I’ve tried. One of my cats tends to have a large volume of urine when he goes, and with other litters I’ve had issues with clumps staying sticky, not fully drying, and wet clay getting tracked through the top of the box during the cleaning cycle. This litter dries much faster and forms solid clumps, which has made a noticeable difference. I no longer have clumps sticking to the bottom of the box or wet litter being spread during cleanouts. The clumping is strong and consistent, odor control has been good, and there is hardly any dust, which I really appreciate. The granules are a bit smaller than some other litters I’ve used, so occasional tracking does happen, but that’s expected with finer litter. I use a litter catcher mat outside the box and haven’t found it to be a major issue. Overall, this has been one of the best clay litters I’ve used for an automatic litter box. It clumps well, dries quickly, controls odor, and keeps dust to a minimum, which makes daily maintenance much easier.

I have found "The One" - Best Cat Litter
Finally after years of trying over a dozen litters, BoxieCat Pro litter wins! Very Low Dust, Lower tracking outside the box and mat in front, great clumping, and controls odor. I have 4 cats and 5 litter boxes which I only clean once a day... Very low, almost no dust of any non-crystal litter I tried. My black cats do not come out covered with 2-4" of "dust socks". They are all digging and covering their waste again; which was an issue with other brand's large granules and the crystal litter types. There is no noticeable "clouds" of dust when I put litter into the box or scoop out waste. I have asthma and allergies, so this was a very important factor to me. I'd rate it's dust at 12 out of 10 :) Most of the litter stays in the box or the 2'x3' litter mat in front of it. The litter is heavy which I expect helps with the lower tracking. All of the "light weight" litter I tried were tracked everywhere, several - many feet away from the litter box area. Other 'Low Tracking" litters, particularly those with larger granules, did better in this category; but my cats didn't like them and stopped even trying to cover their waste, creating odor issues. I'd rate its tracking at 7 out of 10. Clumping is great. It clumps on the top as advertised. The clumps are solid, stay together, and are easy to scoop. 2 of my 4 cats pee on the sidewall instead of squatting and peeing directly into the litter; and even most of that clumps well at the bottom of the wall... And the BoxiePro Scoop & Spray Litter extender has done wonders keeping the walls cleaner and not smelling like urine! I'd rate its clumping as 12 out of 10! Odor control from the litter itself is good...adding the BoxiePro Scoop & Spray Litter Extender and its great! There is no overwhelming scent from the litter; having asthma and allergies, this was another important factor to me. I constantly ask my friends and family who visit, if they can smell my cats or their waste; and they have all responded when using BoxiePro "We don't smell the cats, or their poop or urine at all! If we didn't know better, we would not realize you even had cats." For clarity and openness... I only clean each litter box once a day. The cats are fed soft food twice daily and hard food is always available; so yes they have very stinky poop :) Again, the Spray Litter Extender has really helped reduce the urine odor caused by my 2 cats that pee on the side walls of the litter box (yes I have high wall litter boxes). I'd rate the litter's order control as 11 out of 10....but with the spray I'd rate it 15 out of 10! And finally... I am a real person. I am not related to anyone at BoxieCat. I have not, nor do I expect any discounts or compensation from them for writing this. I think this is only my 3rd written review and I have ordered a lot of items online for several years. Simply put, I have struggled for years trying to find the best litter. I have read many, many reviews for years and have used all of most of their top 5 recommendations. BoxieCat Pro is the best given the factors that are a priority for me discussed above.

Best, especially for robot litter boxes
I originally bought this after doing a lot of research on the best litter to use with my robot litter box. Boxie Probiotic was raved about everywhere, and I can absolutely see why. When I only had one cat, this litter was PERFECT. No smell, excellent clumping, not overly heavy, and it worked flawlessly in my automatic litter box. It really lived up to the hype. Fast forward to now — I have three cats. I’m using this in both my robot litter box and a regular litter box. It still performs better than anything else I’ve tried. The clumping is solid, it stays relatively low-dust, and there’s no overpowering fragrance (which I really appreciate). That said, my only real complaint is the price. With three cats, I go through litter much faster, and I do wish it was a little more affordable for a multi-cat household. I may explore other options just to see if there’s something slightly more budget-friendly or even stronger at odor control for my current situation. But here’s the thing — every time I try a different litter because it’s on sale, I regret it. I always end up wishing I had just stuck with this one. It really is better than the others I’ve tested. So while I’m giving it 4 stars mainly because of cost, this is hands down the best litter I’ve found so far.

No smell and no tracking!!! 👍👍👍
Switched to this litter from the crystal litter. Been a week and my girls have no issues, climbs Nickey and easy to scoop. No noticeable dust or mess, compared to crystal litter which tracked all over my apartment. Compared to the cost of crystal litter I will definitely be purchasing again!!! Value for money? I will see how long this bag lasts. With the crystal litter I would change it out every week with two cats. If you are tired of cat pee smell and litter everywhere, this is definitely a recommended purchase. Only con: the weight of the litter is heavy, if you have dexterity issues with scooping maybe try a small bag out, see how it works. Only thing I noticed was the density of the litter.

How does this litter have such good reviews? Performs very poorly, especially in Litter Robot 4
TL;DR: Does not clump hard enough so sticks to the bottom and sides of new LITTER ROBOT 4, doesn't control urine odor. Avoid. DETAILED EXPERIENCE: Got a brand new Litter Robot 4, but was informed by Litter Robot tech support that my box might not be detecting cats properly because the litter I've always used —fantastic performance but admittedly dusty [Edit: Scoop Away**]—is a particularly heavy litter, which they claim can interfere with the cat detection sensor (a major, MAJOR design flaw in my opinion, one which means I can't fill the bottom of the box up to the fill line, but ain't nothin I can do about it). So, I found this litter, read the absurdly raving reviews (that alone should have set off warning bells) about how it works so well, especially in the Litter Robot, and bought it. What a waste of 30 bucks. If Amazon doesn't refund me I'm going to be so pissed. Urine clumps stick to the bottom of the box like this litter was specifically designed to do just that, which I discovered when I woke up to find a nasty box this morning. At first I thought the box must have malfunctioned and not have run a cycle all night, but because of the previous cat detection issue I had a cat cam filming the box to properly troubleshoot, and I viewed the footage and confirmed that it ran exactly as designed (Point 1 for Litter Robot 4); It ran full cycles all night and after ever visit by a cat, the clumps simply clung to the bottom of the box like a baby spider monkey to its mother's back, so what I found in the morning was a box full of soft sticky urine "clumps" (halfway between a clump and sludge is how I would describe it) and, well, the other things cats leave in boxes, and it's too small a litter reservoir to handle that amount of use without the machine emptying properly. I mean, poor cats. So gross. I'm surprised someone didn't just use the floor, but (in an unusual move, my cats know exactly how to voice their displeasure if they deem it necessary) they all took pity on me and gallantly continued to use it, standing on their tippy toes in the sludgy mess. I have it set to the default eight minutes between cat use and clean cycle, so it's not set to wait too short a time to clump, eight minutes should be sufficient for it to harden up. It doesn't clump hard, which is probably why it sticks. Upon further inspection (I JUST watched a cycle run) after the box had rotated to the point where everything in it should have slid down and into the hole that empties the box's contents into the drawer, a clump DID detach, and it did start sliding down, but it seemed to defy the laws of physics and stopped its descent an inch from the hole. Damn thing clung for dear life to what would in a moment be the CEILING of the box (after it had rotated all the way back around), where it either would have stayed, glued above the cat's heads, waiting for me to come a scrape it off, necessitating an actual cleaning of the ceiling, or would have eventually (curtesy of gravity) dropped down into the litter at the bottom, waiting, sticky and unburied, for a cat to get in and step on it. Also, I can smell the urine in the box from outside the closed utility room door now, that's how little this litter controls urine odor. A couple of my cats have a strong urine scent, but the *unscented Scoop Away has NEVER failed to control that. I would not recommend this litter, and can't help but suspect that the raving reviews are either paid ones, or were generated by the BoxieCat company itself (yes, companies do that, both here and on Reddit and other social media platforms), because it performs exactly OPPOSITE of how all the other reviews claim. *I originally wrote I normally use Fresh Step. I realized pretty quickly that was incorrect. I've been using unscented SCOOP AWAY for 14 years, so I don't know why I originally wrote Fresh Step. *facepalm*. Anyhow, Unscented Scoop Away is the bomb. If your cats have especially pungent smelling urine I'd recommend you at least give it a try, nothing beats it in that regard, as far as I can tell. Only issues is it IS sort of dusty, and it is denser than some other clay litters, so (at least according to Litter Robot) it can make it harder for the machine to detect a cat in the drum. I only had that issue a couple times in the last three weeks of using the LR4, though. I have been following their advice and leave the half-inch of space between the sand and the fill line, but, If I am having doubts about its detection abilities (I'm a preemptively-troubleshooting, proactive kind of person...i.e. catastrophic thinker :P), I fill the box to half an inch below the fill line and VERY gently put down and pick up a five pound brick in the sand, five times in a row, to make sure the box detects at least that amount "cat" weight (if you place it and pick it up only once the box is programmed to not empty, the red detection light will turn on (tricking you) and then revert to blue after you walk away, because it thinks a cat just stuck a paw in and left without using the box). I know that sounds like a hassle, but it's worth it for peace of mind. Anyhow, this ends my Litter Robot kitty litter Ted Talk. Have a nice day.

Least favorite natural cat litter
Compared to other natural cat litters, this one would be my least favorite as it gets tracked around the house by my cat's paws very similar to how regular cat litter does. The size of the litter is comparable to regular litter, The odors of urine and feces is also not trapped within the litter and I can smell it in other parts of my home. The clumping of the urine and feces works well and provides a texture that does not break apart when scooping. It is also very heavy similar to regular non natural cat litter which I also am not a fan of. I will probably go back to Arm & Hammer - natural cat litter as it is lightweight, covers odors well and does not easily track around my home.

I WILL NEVER USE ANOTHER LITTER EVER AGAIN.
Recently I had a pregnant queen give birth to four kittens. If you have ever dealt with a pregnant or nursing cat, you would know that they just DESTROY litter boxes when they go potty. It seems like everytime they pee it's a gallon, and everytime they poop it's a mountain. It's awful and, frankly, not many products out there can keep up with that degree of punishment while still controlling odor or without costing a fortune to clean and replace. Desperate, I turned to ChatGPT, who recommended this litter, as well as a few others. After trying some.kf the other options and being mostly unsatisfied I decided to go ahead and see if this one would be different. Let me put it like this: In a house with two adult cats, four 5-month old kittens and five 3-week old kittens, out of three large litter boxes THERE IS PRECISELY ZERO SMELL OR ODOR FROM ANY OF THEM. NONE. NOT EVEN A HINT OF ONE. In fact, I so completely FORGOT that there was SUPPOSED to be a smell that when I recently went and visited a friend's house who also had multiple cats and I walked in I couldn't believe how BAD the smell was! It really stunned me before I remembered "Hey, wait...I have a ton of cats. Why isn't my home this bad?". She claimed that I just didn't notice it, but when she came to visit after I had switched to this litter she was floored --it really wasn't there!! According to the company, after you start using this litter you "never have to change your litter from your littebox again" because the probiotics in the litter are constantly breaking down the waste. After 6 months of using this litter I can attest that this is mostly true -- the two times I have had to fully change the litter from the litter ones was because of just general hygiene as well as that I had accidentally allowed the litter to get too low while waiting on a delivery and the kittens had dug down BENEATH the litter and peed/pooped directly onto the litter box itself. 😓 While the current price point is a little high, I think the results speak for themselves and overall justify the price; since switching to this litter all of my cats & kittens have had less litter box complications and breathing issues since this litter is also very low-dust and hypoallergenic, and the shape of the litter itself doesn't easily lend to it tracking and sticking to their soft little paws. Even with diarrhea it clumps in record time and stays solid; with high moisture it locks it away almost instantly, making it extremely easy to scoop and sift. It's made from pet-safe ingredients and can take all the punishment a Multi-cat household has to offer. Obviously you cannot recycle this litter, or flush it down the toilet, but aside from that this is easily the most solid high-performance litter I've ever used. The other Boxie Cat litters are great as well, but I think this one is the GOAT. Don't take my word for it though. Get a 28lb bag and see for yourself. As a nice added touch, there are FREAKING HANDLES ON THE SIDE OF THE BAG!! HOW GREAT IS THAT?!! 😂 Everything about this litter had been well thought out and meticulously engineered for maximum comfort for both us and our pets. So give it a try. I am beyond glad that I did.
