Despite a whirlwind of success from their 2008 debut REACH Eyes Set to Kill front Woman Alexia Rodriguez refuses to let the Phoenix based group she help create, remain and write the same record. With the release of Eyes Set to Kill's sophomore album, THE WORLD OUTSIDE, Rodriguez is determined to let critics, fans and the industry recognize her growth and maturity as a songwriter and performing artist.

Unrefined but Worthwhile
I only recently discovered Eyes Set to Kill, but I find myself liking them more with every listen. For those who don't know, Eyes Set to Kill is currently a four-piece (but credited as a five-piece on this album) female-fronted band that is probably best described as a punk/metalcore cross. Alexia Rodriguez brings both solid riffage and soothing clean vocals to the table, and guitarist Brandon Anderson lays down some of the most unnatural unclean vocals I have ever heard (ultimately leading him to blow out his vocal chords and leave the band, in that order). The World Outside is the band's second full-length release, and it's largely an entertaining album.Highlights for me include "Heights," which kicks off the album with energy and a killer chorus, "Risen," a brooding track made up of equal parts Anderson-screams and Alexia-crooning, and "Her Eyes Hold the Apocalypse," an intense cut that features the best riffage on the album. Also of note is "Deadly Weapons" (featuring Craig Mabbit of Escape the Fate fame), though it is not one of my personal favorites. Especially worth mentioning is the piano-based "Interlude" that serves as an intro to the cleverly-crafted title track, said title track, and "Come Home." These songs bring an altogether different sound to the album. There are no harsh vocals from Anderson on either the title track or "Come Home" (and no vocals at all on "Interlude"), but Alexia makes up for it with beautiful clean vocals. "Come Home" is the softest song on the album; it is rife with piano and emotion. Alexia is at her best here, both lyrically and vocally. As a whole, The World Outside is an impressive album, though I have to admit some of the songs don't stand out enough to keep from slipping through the cracks. Nonetheless, this album is a must-have for metal fans looking to expand their repertoire of female-fronted bands, and it certainly delivers a diverse cut of songs. While it is not Eyes Set to Kill's best, it's still worth your time.

The Aesthetics of Alexia Rodriguez
This was a really enjoyable album for me. I first heard the song "Heights" on Sirius, which inspired me to check out the rest of the album. At first I wasn't exactly sure of it, but I couldn't get my mind around Alexia Rodriguez's voice. I find some kind of solace in listening to her perform. She has one of the most beautiful voices I've heard in some time. Hearing her sing (especially on the final track) makes me think that I may actually want to try dating again one day.All in all, this is a very solid album, definitely worth a listen to simply for the aesthetics of Alexia's performance alone. This band has a lot of potential to evolve more and more in the oncoming years, which will be interesting to see. Really, the only problem I have with this band is the male vocalist... he should not be singing. He DEFINITELY should not be singing with Alexia. Thankfully, his voice makes only a minor contribution. Still, he doesn't belong there and is the reason for me rating this album only 4 stars. However, don't let that stop you from checking this band out, they are worth the time and the money.

Great band!
I don't wanna sound gay or nothing, but I think Eyes Set to Kill is a really sweet band. I celebrate their entire collection. Buy this album, or I'll keep making movie quotes in the review section. Don't test me.

I love this album
Eyes Set To Kill have now done 5 albums. Their latest "Masks" was very good, and they've never actually missed (though they came close with "White Lotus"), but it only feels like yesterday when this album was their latest. This and "Reach" are the two reasons I'm such a fan of this band, and in my opinion "The World Outside" was Eyes Set To Kill at their very peak. The album is at times very heavy, sad, positive, and even quite soft and I just like everything about it. There's not a song I skip over. "Heights", "Deadly Weapons", "The World Outside", "Wake Me Up", "March of the Dead" "The Hollow" are probably my personal favorites, but I truly like every song in this one."The World Outside" was also a farewell album to the best lineup Eyes Set To Kill had. From "Broken Frames" on we got a couple new members, and even a bit of a different sound. They almost turned into a different band completely. Even Alexia's vocals changed. I personally prefer the soft vocals of "Reach", and "The World Outside", and I thought they went really nice with the screaming vocals. Alexia and Brandon were a cute duo. I liked them as a pair, and how they sounded together. It's really too bad he left, and she changed her style of singing (Though I still like her vocals on later albums). When I think of Eyes Set To Kill I think of "Reach" and "The World Outside" with this lineup. I still like them alot, but they haven't yet and probably won't ever match their first two albums. They're still great, but just in a totally different way.

そこそこ
自主盤から数えて、3枚目のフルアルバム。前作と比べると少し大人しめでダークさとポップさが増している印象です。ゲストで同郷のcraig mabbit(ex-blessthefall、現Escape The Fate)が『Deadly Weapons』参加しています。
