Surprise. Punches, made of steel.
Take a hammer and hit a punch as you hold it against a material weaker than steel.Behold the hole!Dang good for the price.Nice case too.

They work
I actually use these for punching out thin plastic. They work, but I did have to spend sometime getting them sharper. Overall, they are a good inexpensive alternate to the expensive punch and die sets you see offered.

Great for cutting circles of cloth for appliqué
Although these tools were made for leather, I use them to cut circles of felt for my wife's appliqué projects. They work great!

Acceptable but not great
These are not properly sharpened. I was able to sharpen the one I needed well enough to complete my project, but sharpening these is not easy. After sharpening they worked adequately for my project, which involved punching several precise holes in thick fabric for installation of grommets. These are OK for occasional use. but they are not professional quality, at least as delivered.
