Style not as pictured . . . .
Gerry Stretch River Hiking Short (36, Slate)...The picture of the shorts shown has zip pockets both front and rear which is why I ordered the River style. The shorts I received only has one zip pocket, front right. Some recent buyers received four zip pocket shorts. I have several Gerry River shorts and all have four zip pockets. BTW same RN.From the Q/As:There are 2 zip pockets - 1 one each leg. The 2 back pockets are also zippered. Rocco · August 1, 20182 in front and 2 in back. All zipped. Best quality shorts I've ever had Kindle Customer · July 31, 2018There are 4 zip pockets, in the back one on each hip and on the side one on each leg. Robert Woods · July 31, 2018Disappointed. Returning. For the SELLER: How/where can I buy the River Short which has four zip pockets?

Finally found the last brand of shorts I will ever buy for my husband!!! YEAH!!!!
For years I have been looking (OK...searching) for shorts for my husband that he liked and that were comfortable. I should say that he wears shorts year round snow or not!I waited to do the review on these shorts until he has worn them for a while to see how they last which after several months is...Very Well !!Before these shorts, he either liked them OR they were comfortable but never both. I have finally found the shorts that he says are comfy AND he not only likes them... he LOVES them! Yeah!!These are very well made!Unlike other shorts that have all 4 pieces of material are sewn together in the crotch leaving a "lump of material" right in the center which can be very uncomfortable (especially with jeans...I'm sure everyone knows what I am talking about). Gerry shorts have an extra panel sewn in the middle between the legs having the front 2 pieces sewn to 1 side and the back 2 sewn to the other side which eliminates the "material lump" in the crotch. He loves this by the way! They have plenty of pockets and with the stretch of the material he can put his wallet in his pocket and not make the shorts feel tighter. The sewing is done very well. Sewn with a serger then double line stitch over that which gives the shorts the "look" but also 3 lines of "security" to help keep down the possibility of rip outs or splitting the rear and showing....oh dear..He can move and they don't "roll down" at the waist; they don't "ride up" in the rear (at least I haven't seen him pulling them out). The legs aren't tight which gives air movement which is vital in helping to keep him cooler and keep the sweating to a minimum (also helping to eliminate swamp a**...which on it's own is AWESOME!! ..not what it is but the elimination of it!).I am so happy with these shorts because I now know exactly where to go to buy him more...YEAH!!!!*** also...I was NOT paid for this review by unless you count the fact that I do not have to hunt anymore. The only type of payment is that I no longer have to hunt for shorts for him!!

Own several pair of apparently an earlier generation of theses shorts and absolutely love them! These are apparently a redesign cheapened but given the same name. 1 zippered pocket not 4 as in the previous version, not very stretchy and nowhere close to correct waist size and length. Cannot recommend this new version. Returning

For mil/ gov’y they’re the best
Ok, I’m a husky gentleman (6 feet, 235 lbs) and I go through shorts like there’s no tomorrow. Mainly they rip through at the crotch do to seems rubbing because of...reasons. Well these seem to be holding up just fine! They are definitely higher quality than. My Kuhl’s or my 5.11 (yes, I’m military that doesn’t wear a uniform that often). But more importantly, they stretch. nay complaint is that they’re a little bit in the waist (tree-trunk thighs) but that may be my fault as 36 is my standard and I started a new diet recently. Lectins ya’ll... they’re real

30 waist fits like 32
Bought for boyfriend"Fit is closer to 32. Too loose to wear without a belt. For reference i normally wear a 30 in Levis jeans, and they tend to feel a bit tight until i break them in. When i fold the extra fabric, there's about 2 extra inches flat. Suppose its possible that I've lost an inch or 2 from my waist, but i doubt it.Material on shorts only stretch horizontally, not vertically. Cargo pockets seem like a good size and don't add any bagginess. Length seems good. Material and stitching seems like decent quality. Expected the waist to have a bit of stretch to it, but there definitely isn't any.If the fitment was better, i'd probably call them a 4/5. As is, i haven't decided if i'll return them or not."

These are stretchy. If they don't fit snugly or you have heavy stuff in your pocket, you'll need a belt!
This is the second pair I've purchased. I love these shorts and I might get another pair in a different color so nobody notices I wear the same thing all summer long.... The only problem is if you carry heavy stuff in your pockets or the shorts don't fit snugly, you'll need a belt. I wear mine with this belt from Arcade: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DN5XX3A/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_IBPVAb6AEB2B7 which is also a bit stretchy so you still have freedom of movement but you don't lose your shorts if there's too many keys in your pocket!

cool
Price changes a lot. And the die they use is easily washed out. That said, these are my favorite shorts. And I have nice shorts. That's because they stay cool during hot summer hikes. And that's because they're all polyester. They're also very stretchy. A couple times a year, they drop to fif teen. And that's when I buy.
