Great guide
Great examples and strategies available. Read all the examples before my test and practised a few, that was enough for me.

It's a Ph D on essay writing.
Amazing book. I like that part most: How to ideate. Never thought analysis can be so comprehensive. Analysis matrix is never-seen-before. Followed advice on how to dig points and I am improving consistently. Thanks!

Really helpful material.
Really helpful material. Lot of words for substitution of the similar meaning. Sample essays are good written and deserved to read repeatedly.

Excellent book, look to no other
I took a chance on this book, as it had no reviews. However, none of the others were written by a PhD and this one has a lot more instruction than the all-in-one GRE books. It includes definite, rock solid advice with a minimum of fluff. I also used the ScoreItNow writing practice online for 20 bucks from the ETS GRE website. DO BOTH!However, before reading this book and practicing like 20 times with the techniques in it, I had a 4. I just got my scores back after using this book, and I had a 6! Wow!

Useful strategies for structuring your essay
Writing the GRE essay has always been very hard for me. This is why I went searching for a book which breaks down the different parts of an argument and shares language that I can use for any essay prompt that is thrown at me. When I found this Manhattan Review guide, I knew my search was over. I did not need anything supplementary to this book because it really simplified the essay section of the GRE so that there is an example for each type of essay prompt and a direct and complementary explanation right after it. You can tell that the authors of this book know their stuff and offer a collection of quotes that can be used to speak upon any issue related prompt. By breaking down the process into five parts - understanding the argument, recognizing the author’s claim, knowing what could be considered as “faulty assumptions,” figuring out “missing evidence,” and being ready with counter examples – the process of writing an essay has really changed for me, for the better. I can write this review with strong conviction that I can now write a coherent essay on any GRE topic.
