Perfect for nightowls
I've been looking for a good lamp for awhile and ultimately decided to purchase this lamp after some research and reading other reviews. As a student and night owl, this lamp is pretty perfect. Breakdown:Aesthetic Features:Pristine white hard plastic. The design is a modern sleek look. The base is sturdy so that the lamp will not easily knock/tip over. The lamp was very easily put together when it came out of the box and I couldn't find any scratches or faulty parts from the get go. I really like the clean design.Light Features:The lamp is touch based which I really like and it works pretty well. Very nicely lit and the touchpad has a soft low in case you need to find it at night. It has 4 basic settingsSleep/Bedtime modeIt's a soft orange warm glow. I like to use it for the wee hours of morning when I wake up for whatever reason when the sun isn't fully out yet. It doesn't hurt my eyes like other lights do.Relaxation ModeThis is a step brighter than the sleep mode. A brighter orange/yellow if you will. I actually like to switch between this and the reading mode for reading depending on how tired my eyes are.Reading ModeThe light shade is more of a white glow. I do use it to read but I often switch between this and the relaxation mode just because sometimes I prefer the more orange/yellow glow over the white glow.Study ModeThis is a very bright white light compared to the reading mode. I pretty much use it late at night when I really want to get a lot of work done. I don't know if it's the cast of the glow but I feel like it's a more "serious" light if you will. The orange glows are more home-y/cozy and makes me more relaxed.I get a lot of headaches and migraines so I really enjoy the different light settings on this lamp as it's easier on my eyes from what I've been able to tell. On top of the different modes, you can easily adjust for a higher/lower brightness on each setting A++.Extra:I really like that the power button is lit when the lamp is off so in the middle of the night I know where to clumsily touch and not just feel out my cluttered desk and drop things. There's also a USB port I can use to charge my iPhone. YAY!I was between just getting the other lamp this company makes without the tilting head and this one but after reading an informative review stating that they wished the head of the lamp would tilt, I just bit the bullet and went with the newer version. The titling head is perfect!!! I keep the lamp on the edge of my desk, and I just swivel it, adjust the head so I can read on my bed since my desk is right next to my bed.

Poor Design , Not good for students.
Extremely pricey and poorly designed product. I purchased this lamp for studying while preparing for my exam. I needed light which was pure white led ( like the light from a tube light , instead of the yellowish light that you get from a light bulb). The product arrived and at first i was impressed with the quality of light, the touch interface and the four options for different kinds of light available in the touch panel. But when i started to try and use the lamp , the first problem i faced was the design. This is an extremely poorly designed lamp if you intend to use it for studying. The first problem is that the lamp is higher than a traditional study lamp, and if standing straight on a study desk, it will be higher than your head level while you are sitting, even if you are sitting at the highest setting of your chair. I am 5' 10" and this lamp was really tall for me.This is a problem because of two reasons. First problem is that if the lamp is at a higher level than your head , this can lead to a shadow of your head on the book for which you may have to adjust the lamp, and this leads to the second problem which is that the entire vertical column is not bendable and has no joint on which to bend. It only bends near the base just above the place where the touch panel is located. So if you try to adjust the height of the lamp to bring it below your eye level to focus the light on whatever you are studying, the lamp will take almost a whole foot of space on your desk as it angles that long vertical arm to about 45 degrees. In this case you now have to put the base really far from you so that you can get the led bulb area on top of your book and below your head level. Bottom line is, you better have a really huge desk so that you can place it far from you to direct the light as you wish. If you have a regular small study desk that most students have, then just forget about it being useful.I even tried to adjust my chair to higher position but apparently the lamp is so tall that you still cannot get it to below your eye level which leads to glare in the eyes and loss of focus. This is crazy because for studying or reading you need light below your eye level and above the reading material , so that the reading material is illuminated and you are not getting glare from the light source.I finally gave up and returned the product and it is a really pricey product i must say. I paid around 125 $ for it. Luckily i did come up with a solution. I decided to stick to my old 20 $ study lamp which i had bought 5 years ago from Walmart. I just went to home depot and got a "CREE DAYLIGHT LED BULB" which produces the white light i need for studying and used that bulb with my old study lamp getting better results than this expensive lamp. Here is the url for the light bulb which you can visit and check.http://www.amazon.com/Cree-Daylight-Dimmable-Replacement-Bulb/dp/B00J9OP1NY/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1405276633&sr=8-2&keywords=cree+led+bulb+daylightPlease make sure that if you want to try this, you should get the "Daylight" LED bulb if you need white light like the one from a tube light , and "Soft White" LED bulb if you need the yellowish light like the one from a traditional light bulb.I hope the manufacturer reads this review and redesigns this lamp by (a) making the height smaller (b) making an additional joint in the very long vertical arm so that bending the lamp does not take all the space on your desk (c) changing the shape of led panel from a rectangle to a square or something round and finally (d) bringing the price down a little bit so its more affordable for students. Unless they do that , its better to just get a regular desk lamp from a local shop and spend 10 $ on a LED "day light " bulb.
