How big is the brim? I'm looking for a smaller brim than a baseball cap.

Brim is about same size as baseball cap, maybe just a tad smaller (but not by much).

what is the distance width of one end of the brim to the other if you wrapped it from where it meets the foreheand bands? Typical is 9" & I want 10".

I bought it for the style. It is adjustable so I think anyone could wear it.

Will it fit a 8 year old girl?

Yes, my daughter is 6 and it's just a little to big and has a good 2"-2.5" velcro adjustment section. Definitely recommend.
