IT WORKS LIKE NOTHING ELSE!
I was skeptical of this product's claims, but once I tried it I became a believer very quickly. No hands smelling like onion, garlic or fish!

It works!
It really works. We keep it in the kitchen drawer for use after cooking. Great for removing food odors like onion or garlic. Use like a bar of soap under warm water.

It does work
It does work…but so does washing with soap or lemon juice; however, if you’re busy cooking use this in between handling other foods and you won’t have to stop to wash hands.

Used this as an underarm bar to control body odor - Rather than using aluminum contain anti-perspirant
I first came across the use of these stainless steel bars for body odor control in a catalog found in most airline seat back pockets. My TWEENage daughter was having underarm odor a bit early and I didn't want her using aluminum containing antiperspirants. So, I almost paid the $35 with shipping to try it out for the one from the catalog, BUT I thought I'd look at Amazon first and found this stainless bar advertised for cross contamination hands odors like onions, garlic and fish. So, how did it work? What do we like and dislike about it? How did we test its effectiveness and what were the results? We tested it by having every member of the household, 4 of us, use it for 1 week and during that week not applying any underarm deodorant nor anti-antiperspirant, just using the bar. Then at the end of each day around 6:00 P.M. we subjected each other to the underarm smell test, literally sticking our noses up close and personal to the pit area, and rating on the 1 - 10 scale with 1 being no odor and 10 being plug-your-nose odor. We all went without ANYTHING, not even the stainless bar for 1 day as a control (NOT PRETTY). We washed in the shower using non-deodorant soap and then just before getting out with the shower running on the underarm area we vigorously rubbed the bar all over the underarm area. So, how did it work? Pretty darn well actually ! According to the smell tests at the end of the CONTROL DAY with nothing we were all in the 5 to 9 odor range. During the week with the bar under a variety of strenuous daily activities some days and light activity on other days, we ranged from 2 - 4 on the odor scale. The father of the family said that he started to notice his own odor some of the days around 3:00 PM, but didn't notice any odor until that time of day and even then at 6:00 PM the others never rated the odor above a 3. So, bottom line it worked and kept down the odor to NOT-noticeable-by-others outside your very intimate bubble area. We all liked the "soap" type shape of the bar, but when you drop it in the shower AND YOU WILL . . . Bing, Bong, Ting . . . it makes a racket. Our TWEENage daughter is using it to this day (we've had it for MONTHS now. The father is using it along with antiperspirant, but he applies a MUCH SMALLER amount of antiperspirant due to the stainless bar's positive effects. So, all that being said, we bought one for a friend who doesn't believe in the use of aluminum containing antiperspirants and while it was effective, it was much less effective on her (though it worked great for her husband), so individual results may very. We really haven't tired it for onion or garlic odors, so we don't have a comment on that use.

My salsa is hot but my hands aren’t on fire!
I have been chopping onions and hot peppers all day making salsa to can for our family. I wore gloves but still my fingers were on fire from the habaneros! Then I remembered I had this bar! It really worked!! I can rub my eyes now.

Steel soap? Better use REAL soap!
So, here I am, standing shirtless in front of the kitchen sink, rubbing my sweaty armpit with a bar of wet steel and asking myself, "What am I doing?" So, let me think back to when I first purchased this bar. The [bar of steel] claims to remove foul odors from your hands, specifically onion and garlic. I was dubious. But, I have seen stranger ideas work, so I performed a blind test. I asked a family member to give a rating of 0 (no smell) to 5 (strongly onion-y) after I rubbed my hands with freshly cut onions and performed one of the following: 1. No action - Hands rated 5. 2. Washed with steel bar and water - Hands rated 2. Steel bar rated 4. 3. Washed with soap and water - Hands rated 0. 4. Washed with water only - Hands rated 5. *The family member was not aware of what technique was used. Fresh onions were used before each test and my hands were gently dabbed dry with a clean towel after each technique. Conclusions: 1. Steel and water seems to transfer the smell of onions to the steel. 2. Soap and water is more effective on hands and was required to clean the steel bar. 3. It is simpler and more effective to use soap and water than steel and water...and soap and water. Some users mentioned that the steel bar was effective on body odors as well. So, here I am, standing in front of a sink after a delightful day without deodorant or personal hygiene, and preparing to stick my nose into my armpit after rubbing it with a bar of wet steel. ... :ahem: The steel bar does not seem to reduce the *cough* odor, and now the steel bar smells like my armpit. And so does my hand. This steel bar has failed to impress. My body odor is certainly impressive, though. So, let's try soap and water. ... Hey, my armpit smells clean! My hand, too! And it worked on the steel bar, too! Wow, this soap and water stuff is great! I definitely recommend using soap and water to remove foul odors. Not steel though. Unless you use soap and water with it. Might make a fun gift, though. Even better if you can convince the recipient to try it on their armpits and sneak a photo of them rubbing a bar of steel under their arm in front of the kitchen sink. Now there's a gift that keeps on giving.

Value for the money is fantastic (bought 1 for me & 1 as a gift)
This works really well to remove onion, garlic, oil, etc. scents, but it does leave behind a metal-y smell. I prefer to have that than the food smell, so I'm pleased with the outcome. I purchased two of these, the soap bar and fish-shaped bar. They hold up for yearrrsssss, so the value for the money is fantastic. It's easy to use. The size is smaller than you'd expect, but perfect for how you'd use it. The appearance is nice, but I ended up needing a soap dish to hold and drain the product.

I have always hated using garlic/ onions because of the smell on my hands for days after. I bought this hoping for results and results I got , it definitely works ! Only a slight smell remained but after using a few times it had gone completely. Brilliant !!

Interesting product. Seems counter intuitive to wash my hands with a metal bar but it works! Works well, removes all food odours from my hands.
