Easy to operate but hard to calibrate, no worries it will get you close without that . Works good

Granted my expectations weren't all that high for this inexpensive meter, which does claim to arrive factory-calibrated. But I like to do my best to calibrate them when they arrive. My other digital pH meter uses manual calibration; it has a little screw on its back which can be adjusted with a screwdriver, for very precise calibration. This one is, to say the least, not so easy to calibrate. Firstly it doesn't even behave like the instructions say it should. It took quite some cajoling to bring it anywhere near 6.86, but when it finally did, I pressed down on the CAL button like the instructions said. They said it would begin flashing "6.86" It did not. Instead it began flashing all sorts of other random values. So I removed it from the 6.86pH beaker, dipped it into some distilled water, and it turned itself off! So I was forced to start the calibration process all over again. This is my first experience with digital calibration of a pH meter and boy does it suck. I am not a fan. Due to the logarithmic nature of the pH scale, precision is much more relevant the closer to neutral you get, which makes me question the factory calibration on these things. As I said, I wasn't expecting supremely high quality, but this is just... really not great. A simple potentiometer-based means of calibration could've made this product much better.

With my experience of this thing, it relatively was close within range, even immediately after calibrating it, but it was not accurate and I’ve only had it for a month and now I have to throw it away. Also, I didn’t see any comments when I bought it if anyone mentioning not to dip the stick too far into the water or else you’ll short-circuit the pen. It is not waterproof. It is only water resistant up to the probe. I may be dumb for sticking the pen as deep as the buttons, but that’s all I did and now I have to throw mine away, and I’ve only had it for a month

Has to sit for five mins in water before turning on to.get an accurate reading and if u walk away it will shut off, but overall good product and readings are accurate

I have been doing simple Hydroponics for years now, nothing fancy, baby greens and lettuce etc. And I have used this type of models for years now. In the past, they usually last me about 2-3 years before they stopped working or go completely wonky. Unfortunately for this one, I got it right before a long vacation, so I did not start using it until a month later and after all the usual calibrating and etc, it stopped working by the third time (I usually use it once a week to check on the water pH). It basically goes all crazy with the measurements, like showing pH of 4.6 in tap water, then jumping to another number after I take it out and put it in the SAME water again. I even tried leaving it in for half an hour in the solution I am measuring it (Per their instructions), and I also did the whole 3 level pH recalibration thing again, but nope, it has flown over the cuckoo's nest and it is not coming back. And now, it is too late to return. I only gave it two Stars because the price was good and it came quickly.
