Very Good Security Camera Supported by Mediocre Software
The media could not be loaded. I have had this camera for about two weeks, and it has been mounted outside for about a week. I am pleased with the overall performance of the camera. The camera produces a good picture in both daylight and night conditions. During the time it has been outside, it has been exposed to rain and freezing temperatures with no ill effects. The camera is mounted about 40 feet from my wifi access point, and I have had no problems with signal dropouts.First, I do want to note that the camera is a model C1901W camera. There is no indication on the box as to how much internal memory it has, but it does have 16GB installed. The camera will record video to the internal card when it detects motion. Those videos are stored on the card. Once the card fills, the new recordings automatically overwrite the oldest videos.I do have a few minor quibbles with the camera hardware, although they are not enough to cause me to downgrade it. First, there is a cable that comes out of the camera that separates into three cables. At the end of one is the power socket, a second has a push button switch that is used to perform a factory reset, and the third has a RJ45 network jack. The RJ45 jack is used to connect an Ethernet cable to allow the initial setup of the camera. Once that setup is completed, the jack is no longer needed. But because of its size, I had to cut a fairly large hole in the wall of my garage in order to pass the cable inside, even though I could have drilled a much smaller hole if all I needed to do was accommodate the power cable. Ideally, I would have designed the camera so that the RJ45 jack and the reset button were mounted on the camera body under a cover that could be unscrewed, and then put back on and was properly sealed against moisture and tampering. My other complaint about the camera itself is that the length of cable extending from the power adapter is fairly short. While it was just barely long enough for my particular mounting location, many people will need to buy an extension cable in order to make the necessary connection. My big complaint is the software that supports the camera. The iOS and Android app is Yoosee, and there is also a Windows program called CMS Client.Yoosee allows you to use your smartphone to see what is happening in front of the camera from anywhere in the world. It also allows you to set the camera to do things like start recording on motion, and also send out an email with a single image of the motion that it detected. You can also see how much memory is in the camera and how full it is. An option also allows you to update the camera's firmware, if a new firmware version is available. But there are also several options in the Yoosee app that are not applicable to this camera, such as the Defense Area Settings section. The motion detection section of the software can initiate a 1, 2, or 3 minute recording. In general, I would much prefer if the recording ended about 10 seconds after the motion stopped. One minute is much too long. Also, I would like this software to send multiple picture via email, rather than just one. Another camera I own made by a different manufacturer automatically sends six pictures, including two before the motion starts. I think having several pictures is more useful for a security application. The Yousee app also allows you to play back any recordings that are stored on the camera, but they cannot be saved. It would be helpful if a recording that you wanted to save could be saved to Dropbox, iCloud, OneDrive, or Google Drive. The PC client software is CMS Client. This software does not allow adjusting the camera's settings. It is intended for viewing multiple cameras simultaneously. It does allow saving recordings from the camera to the local PC. However, those recordings are saved in a non-standard video format, which I have not been able to play with any standard video programs. There is an option in the software to convert the saved files to an mp4 format. However, that option does not work.In order to get around the limitations of the software that is officially supported by IdeaNext, I have been using iSpy. This camera is recognized as a standard ONVIF camera. Also, while you can set the time on the camera manually using Yoosee, I prefer ONVIF Device Manager, which allows me to synchronize the camera's time to my network. One very important part of the camera system is the support offered by IdeaNext. Since buying this camera, I have been in touch with IdeaNext's customer support at least every couple of days with lots of questions. Their support is excellent, explaining how to do various things, or pointing me towards videos that show how to accomplish various tasks. Without that support, I would not have been able to figure out how to use this camera properly.I am attaching a couple of pictures and a video to this review so you can see the quality of the images produced by this camera. One picture is a daytime picture, while the other is the same view at night. The video is also a nighttime recording so that you can see how this camera performs. The driveway you see in these pictures is about 50 feet long. In the night view, the only illumination of the driveway comes from the infrared LEDs in the camera. All of these images were recorded by iSpy.

PEOPLE, DO NO BUY THIS....
Alright, wanted to try this camera, I have been using Foscam camera's for about 3 yrs now. ( I have about 9 different models from Foscam)PEOPLE, DO NO BUY THIS....Just to put in a nut shell, NO User interface, NO DDNS, you actually need a Smart phone to even get this thing started.Documentation: I have a few less hair on my head, as I pulled out a bunch trying to understand the documentation ( and I am a Tech)IMO, Foscam is way ahead of all these wanna-be camera companies in the Product quality, user interface, ease of use, documentation and features. I am returning this.
