Music Theory for Young Children, Bk 1 (Poco Studio, Bk 1)

Very useful

As a teacher, this book is absolutely amazing! I use this book with my three, four and five-year-olds but even the older kids who are just starting out love it. It is very simple. We use it as a part of lessons so any instruction that needs to be given happens during the lesson. There are not a lot of instructions written in the book, but that's what makes it so it can be used in multiple countries....it has both the American English a British English note systems which is fantastic in prepping kids for a more global experience.

I love this book for my preschoolers. The stickers let them do the activities even if they don't write well yet, and it doesn't take them half of forever to do a page, as some other books which tend to be heavy on coloring do. The bright colored pages are appealing.

I got this for homeschooling music to my son. There aren't very many books for younger children who have a passing interest in music (my son really only cares about listening to music and pretending to play, not actually truly playing music-- sort of a family trait). This is a very cute book and fun for my son who really enjoys using stickers for his lessons. I have the other three books in my cart as well and plan on getting them. My one complaint is that if you, the one teaching, doesn't know much about music and notes, then be aware that there is no answer key so brush up on the subject to make sure you're teaching it right which for this level isn't hard at all.

My little 5 yr old is just starting piano class and this is perfect. Super easy and super fun with the stickers. Loved it.

Great format for young children and slow steady repetition for mastery practice. Love the stickers for my daughter who doesn't write confidently yet. Puts the focus firmly on the music theory concepts.

Great book for small children to learn music basics. The first 13 pages or so focus on piano related things but the rest of the book is learning the staffs and the different types of note values etc in a simple and fun way for little children. There are stickers that go to many of the pages amd the activities vary a bit to make it interesting. Working with a four year old and he did two pages and wanted to do more.

LOVE this theory book for young children... highly recommended for ages 5, 6, 7. Bright pictures, lots of stickers, nice layout of exercises/games, making theory super fun!

I have been using this book for my piano students for a few years and all of my young students love this book. This book makes learning theory fun and happy. The activities, like sticking stickers and colouring, are fun to young kids. I like the material used for the book and the stickers. Even when my students stick a wrong sticker, it is easy to remove and allow the little one to stick it back to the correct place. The knowledge taught in the book is essential for beginners. The book enables my students to learn to read music faster.
