PILOT The Shaker Mechanical Pencil, Black Barrel, 0.5mm HB Lead, Single Pencil (50026)

Best mechanical Shaker pencil!!! Pilot made the 1st Shaker pencil, and this is/was the Original model Shaker H-1010. This has been my FAVORITE mechanical pencil for over 20 years! It's Excellent for taking looong notes, calculations, standardized #2 lead tests, precision sketch/drawing, .... Shaker pencils are phenomenal! They're wonderful because when you're writing feverishly, and can't stop for a second, a quick "flick" of your wrist with this Shaker pencil reloads the lead!!! This OG model is hard to find. I've tried other brands and models, but I like Pilot the best for Shaker pencils, and this model is still my favorite. The H-1010 required "shake" is the easiest, most gentle, and has consistent amount of lead reload- requiring the least effort to continue writing. (Unfortunately over the years this model was changed & the new mechanism & plastic parts are less durable... But, this is still my #1 favorite Shaker pencil.) If you can't get this one (Hard to find!), other favorites: Pentel Pilot Fure Fure Sprinter (Shaker, of course) - smooth grip, thin, stronger "shake" needed TomBow Mono Graph Shaker - stronger "shake" needed; dislike the flimsy plastic clip & thumb-click design

In my mind, this is the perfect mechanical pencil for students. It's sturdy, inexpensive, and the shaker mechanism is easy to use. I find myself using it quire a lot, as it's quite convenient and satisfying. (Much easier than madly jamming the eraser end into something while taking notes.) Replacement erasers are the Pilot MS-10 type, and can be found on jetpens.com. I will warn you that the lettering on the side wears off, (at least on mine, not a big deal.) Also, the eraser feels slightly wobbly at first, but I've had mine for a few months now and it's not an issue. The erasers are also high-quality, which helps. Pair this with some Pentel AIN lead and a Staedtler Mars eraser, and you're set. Highly Recommended.

This has always been my dream pencil but when I left my home country and began to get away from academic life, it slipped out of my mind. But finally I found it again. It works greatly, writes smoothly, shakes efdectively for the lead coming out bit by bit. I am so happy with this pencil.

This is my second one of these pencils. I wore out the original one and have retired it due to a crack after so very many long years of use. The pencil is so great because one does not have to stop to click out more lead when it wears down. Just give the pencil a double shake and keep on writing. How much better can it get. It's only competition and second best option for continuous writing is the Pilot Pesso Side Knock pencil which allows the writer to click more lead out with the thumb clicker. I highly recommend both products.

This is the best mechanical pencil I’ve owned. The tip is well protected until you need it. Of course the best part is the shaking to get the lead to advance. It don’t know how many times I’ve broken the leads on other mechanical pencils because they were hard to adjust. You can shake this one until you have as much as you like.

Had an older version which felt a bit more durable, but the recent purchase of this has not dissapointed. It is comfortable and with quality lead writing, drafting, etc... is effortless.

Why are all the mechanical pencils so thin? The Shaker is an exception for two reasons - its not only twice the girth of a traditional Pentel but it has the shaker mechanism. For me the girth is the selling point as I am so use to the click-to-advance lead that I often forget to shake. Where is this pen missing the mark? The eraser. Anyone that knows mechanical pencils well knows to have a separate eraser on hand. but here is a little secret - you can switch a pentel eraser for the Pilot eraser - but the Pilot needs to retain the plastic eraser holder. In a pnch this might save you someday!

Pretty nice pencil. Comfortable textured grip which is easy to hold, despite being plastic. The clip is springy, and it's got a nice overall aesthetic. Feels quite a lot nicer than those clear plastic pencils. It's a double knock pencil, meaning the sheath that protects the lead retracts when not in use, which is really nice on such an inexpensive pencil. The "shake" functionality is fun, but not particularly useful. The eraser could have been bigger as well, and the "shake" mechanism is a bit noisy. Lastly, the lead that ships with it is very soft, typical of Pilot. I use some Uni lead which is a bit harder. For these reasons, it doesn't get five stars.

He tenido ejemplares de este producto desde hace unos 12 años y siempre han sido de lo más durables. De hecho, aún conservo dos de los otros tres que me he comprado.

As you’re writing or drawing, just raise your hand and bring it down to extend the lead. The way your fingers hold the pencil stays the same. Very helpful for softer (B, 2B) leads.
