I had one of these many years ago, and I’m happy to say the quality is just as excellent today as it was back then. This is the “shaker” version of the Dr. Grip pencil—just give the pencil a shake, and it pushes the lead forward for you—no need to press the top every time! Super convenient, smooth writing, and built to last. Highly recommend!

I haven't really used Dr Grip since the original version with just one type of grip and no shaker. The newer release looks a lot more high-tech with the clear plastic body and dual grip materials. And of course the shaker which I can't say I love but it's interesting. For how I hold my pencils, the grip portion does align to where my lifelong ring finger callous is. I think the dent on my finger and the shaped malleable grip provides better stability than an otherwise flat and long grip. Quite comfortable. The insides still looks like the same as before: plastic lead tube, metal clutch with a spring for advancing. The click is classic, it is satisfying enough and not too loud but you'd definitely hear either the click or shaking nearby. Eraser as good or bad as before but there are way better standalone erasers now to even bother using the built-in.

The Pilot .5mm Dr. Grip Gspec mechanical shaker pencil has become my favorite pencil to use. The shaker lead advance is awesome and works well. The grip is perfect and comfortable. And the pencil is made of high quality plastic and materials that will last a long time. Highly worth the price. A lot of good thought and design went into this pencil.

Pilot pens and pencils is by far my favorite brand of writing utensils. They are made with such good quality. I never have any issues with them. I’m happy that I can still purchase these here on Amazon because I can’t find them in any local stores.

I'm a little crazy about my pens and pencils and this is one of the greatest pencil I've ever had. It is nice to hold, just heavy enough and just big enough in the hand. I really love it. I couldn't use another pencil for weeks. The shaking mechanism works like a charm.
