Big step up from most of the throw-away brands
In the past, I've tended to purchase smaller and lower-cost air purifiers. I might get a year or two of service out of them, and because many of the replacement filters are so expensive, when they hit the point where they stop working, I typically just toss them and go onto another brand...the price of buying a totally new unit often isn't much different from just replacing the entire unit. With the Dyson, I decided to go a different way and make more of an investment in something that will hopefully be both high-performance and long-lasting. The unit itself is very well made with quality materials and finishes. Setup was easy - you just connect the two parts of the machine together and you're basically ready to go. It is heavy for its size, but once you have it out of the box, it's easy to move around using the built-in casters in the base. Keep in mind that, in my opinion, the photos don't do it justice - it is a very large and imposing device, not the sort of thing you can hide away in a corner and have it go unnoticed. It's definitely a device that makes a statement, and if you're looking for something subtle that you won't really notice, this might not be the right unit for you. It wasn't easy to find, but research shows that this particular unit (Dyson BP03) is made in Malaysia, not China. If that's important to you, it's good to know. Replacement filter cost is an important consideration for any purifier. The Dyson is a mixed bag in this area...the good news is that the filters are large, just like the machine, and this helps them last a long time. The HEPA filter allegedly lasts about five years, but costs $170 (current price buying direct from Dyson via the mobile app...there may be other lower-cost options on Amazon). The carbon fiber supposedly lasts two years and costs $90. That would be $79 per year, if the filters actually last as Dyson claims. This is actually not a bad number - many of the OEM filters from other brands are more expensive on an annual basis. It is something to be aware of before you invest, however. At first glance, the performance specs alone might not seem stellar, but there are a few important points the specs don't really reveal. If you're like me and have a large and mostly open space, the high-tech fan can be adjusted to spread filtered air over a much greater distance than other units, helping to clear big spaces more thoroughly. My indoor air quality isn't terrible most of the time. I live in Coastal NC, and the biggest issues we have with air quality are mold, odd smells we get coming off the ocean, and the occasional particulate matter we get from nearby fires and land burns once in a while. Otherwise, all the IAQ issues we tend to have are self-inflicted: cooking, cleaning, opening a bottle of nail polish remover - all spike our Amazon air quality monitors. What this means to me is that the performance I'm most interested in is how quickly these little spikes can be addressed, and here the Dyson excels. I don't think it's doing a better job filtering per se - it's just that its ability to move air around is better, so polluted air gets through the unit faster than other units. My litmus test is to do something that causes a spike in air quality, then see how long it takes to clear. I have a home office paper shredder - running it for even five minutes spikes particulate matter into the air, and that's one of my tests. Taking off my nail polish and applying a new coat does the same with VOCs. In these tests, the Dyson tends to clear my air at least twice as fast as other units I've tried in the past. With no purifier running and the HVAC off, either of these tests will spike air quality quickly, and it can take 12 hours to return to normal. The previous purifiers I had usually would clear the air in about 3-4 hours. Now, the Dyson seems to get my air back to normal air quality in under an hour so far, and that's the best performance I've seen from any unit I've tried. Otherwise, besides the obvious construction quality, I think there are four reasons this unit is worth the price: 1. It's quiet at all speeds. Virtually every brand I've used is quiet at low settings...what's different about the Dyson is that it's quiet at higher speeds too. That means you can run it at maybe 50-70% of its maximum most of the time, where it will do a better job of clearing the air, and it's no noisier than many competitors running at their lowest speed. Most other brands are the opposite - above the lowest speed, they get loud enough to be annoying, so even though they might have impressive air purification specs, you almost never run the unit at a high enough speed to work well. This is a huge advantage for Dyson. 2. The mobile app and remote are very good. Unlike some others, Dyson's app is wonderful, especially if you like to schedule your unit. You can have it go on, off and run at whatever settings you like, as many times a day as you like. If you happen to have multiple Dyson units, you can also control them all from a single app. If you're an Alexa believer, you can even use Alexa to control the unit. About the only thing I haven't seen is some sort of way to integrate the unit into popular home automation software packages (though that may exist - I haven't looked too hard). 3. Integrated air quality metrics. The Dyson reports on levels of particulate matter (PM 2.5 and PM10), as well as nitrous oxides, VOCs and formaldehyde. When a spike in air quality occurs, at a glance you can tell what the problem is, and the data is presented both in the mobile app and on the device in a small, high-quality display that shows trends over time. 4. Longevity of filters. As I mentioned elsewhere, the Dyson filters last a long time, so you're not opening up the unit to swap dirty filters once or twice a year like you do with some other brands. One thing I want to mention for others to consider is a bad past experience I had with Dyson over a different product. A few years ago, I invested in one of Dyson's very expensive "Supersonic" hair dryers. Literally, the week the warranty expired, it stopped working and Dyson refused to help me. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth about Dyson. Otherwise, I think this seems to be a reasonably high-quality air purifier that might be just what you're looking for if you want to take a step up from the more basic and low-quality units typically offered for sale.

100% recomendado

Good product and value for money
Life comes first! If you can afford a caviar plate, why not invest in something that is a little pricey. You’ll think it’s expensive but if you see the work it does, you’ll never regret investing into one unit. Given the pollutants we have nowadays, this is a must have!

It is big, it is quiet. No obvious flaws.
I've got Coway Airmega AP-1512HH, Mila Air Purifier, BISSELL air320, BLUEAIR Blue Pure 411, and now a Dyson Big+Quiet. -- Yes, too many. BISSELL fan is annoyingly loud with a tiny rattle to it. Dislike it, put it in garage. BLUAIR is just tiny and when fan spins up is loud... you gotta have a tiny room for it to make sense, I guess.. Coway is just so much better in every way. Mila is fine, I have it in an office. Filters seem expensive for size, but the auto fan control works well.. 90% of time its totally silent. If someone burns something in kitchen its quick to ramp fan and gets a bit loud, but that's what you want, to get air clean and ASAP and it then gets silent again. It'd be great if not so pricey. Coway seems best value for money. Fan moves a lot of air for how quiet it is. Filters are cheap enough. Its very quiet on low speeds, does get loud at max fan but it moves a lot of air. Only has like blue/green/red light doesn't give exact numbers for particulate.. only downside, but its so cheap can't complain. Auto fan control works. Its just hard to beat the Coway the value is so high. But then we've moved into a new house with a big open floor plan and 12ft ceilings.. its just a big area. None of others really handle that much space, so got a Big+Quiet. And no regrets. - It is big, so normal rooms probably silly large. But in big enough room it doesn't look out-of-place. And IMO it generally looks good. - With fan at 10/10 its quieter than Coway/Mila at max fan while moving more air. With fan at 5 its quiet, but audible if room is otherwise silent. But if couple people are in room doing anything they'll be making too much noise to hear it at 5/10. When fan is on auto and drops down to 1-2 its really hard to hear even in a silent room. - The app works fine. Remote works. I prefer app. - The wheels are nice. Not that you'll move it often, but when you do it glides effortlessly. We've been testing out how it looks in different places and wife rolls it around and doesn't ask me to move it for her. Longterm probably won't move it often, but still nice feature. - I like how long the filters claim to work. Don't mind paying a lot for filter if it'll last awhile. Mila for example has a $59-99 filter they want you to replace every 6 months, its just crazy expensive. Dyson says up to 5 years for $170 filter. And I really nothing to complain about. If you have large area this is air purifier to get.
