K1004 Never Issued 2-Quart Olive Drab Canteen with Previously Issued 2-Quart Desert Canteen Cover with Strap

I bought this US military canteen for the durability and multiple ways to carry it. It fits both those needs perfectly. It was a good price too! I like how the cover clips it in snugly and the drainage hole in the bottom for submerging to cool it down. The pocket is also handy for purification tabs or iodine. As far as the strong plastic taste a lot of people are commenting about. When I first got it I just took the cap off and let it air out for several days, then I rinsed and repeated with warm tap water several times and I taste no plastic. I'm sure prolonged water storage would start to have a plastic taste, there's just no way around it as it is a plastic vessel. BPA free? Maybe? But dehydration will get you a lot sooner than carcinogens in plastic so pick your poison. No pun intended Would recommend and buy again

A very good product. The canteen is tough, especially the mouth stem, but flexible on it's sides. It fits into the pouch snugly. The pouch has a small hole in the bottom that allows liquid to flow out, that way you can soak the pouch and evaporation will cool the water inside the canteen. The stem has very course threads that the cap screws onto, and the lip is well designed with a flared end. This flare at the end of the drinking stem is smooth and I don't think it would cut anyone. The strap is well made and looks like it will take a lot of abuse. The outer covering has a small pocket for water purification pills (I assume). Well constructed and well thought out. Superior to the WWII canteens and covers. And it does not smell of plastic. I washed out the canteen right after I received it and after it dried I filled it with tap water and there was no plastic smell whatsoever. Highly recommended. I purchased this product myself at full price. AD2

I would’ve given this five stars as it is exactly the look and what I wanted however, the actual internal part of the canteen is super thin material otherwise it’s a great product

While the carrier is described as used all four I received appeared almost new. They all had the shoulder strap and each had two metal web gear attachment "pins" As prior active Army I am comfortable saying the carrier is US GI not a repo. The canteen itself is new and appears GI , but could be a repo. All in all the ones I received are perfect. The price is very low for such high quality.

Whats not to dislike?Canteen and cover appear to be NEW.The price is certainly BELOW any other deal OUT THERE!!.This item is the REAL deal, if you find better-CALL ME!!!!

I recently purchased two of these. Both of the caps leak. The canteen itself is cheap and flimsy, not nearly as well made as the ones I used in the military.

I always shop for quality US surplus products and this canteen and cover are a perfrect blend of original and after-market . The canteens are brand new and come with never-issued canteen covers. I hike a lot and hunt fossils and this canteen is perfect, since it's flat profile doesn't get in your way.

My last one when in the Army lasted many many years. Needed for hunting in AZ high desert hunting with my pups.
