Home & Hobby...and more! Great Labeler
I purchased this product 2 years ago and am just now learning to do reviews so thought, why not do it now after I've had some experience with it? This labeler was recommended to me by a lady who has an organizing business. She uses it because the tapes don't peel off plastic tubs and book spines like some other brands. I have been very happy with the P-Touch. I had a cute green plastic Dymo labeler before I bought this one (still have it) and did notice the Dymo labels did peel off plastic storage tubs but the P-Touch labels stick! I also like that you can select vertical printing (to go on narrow spaces) and cute backgrounds like dots, candy wrapper, etc. and also there are many cute symbols it will print. I use this all the time for labeling storage, files, anything where neatness helps. I saw another reviewer commented that the batteries don't last even a day. I have not noticed this problem. I have had this 2 years and only changed the batteries once that I can remember (I don't use it constantly, either). I really don't see how the batteries could die that quickly since it has an auto-off function (turns off automatically after a few minutes if not used). I like the "qwerty" keyboard (laid out like your computer keyboard instead of alphabetical) which makes it a little faster to type. Easy to use since the font sizes & styles are shown above the display for reference. I do find myself referring to the instructions for remembering special symbols (happy face, snoflakes, etc.) and frame styles (polka dots, stripes, wood grain). Great little gadget! No cons that I can think of.

Great Buy
This is a great little machine. Small footprint. I like that it is battery powered. I don't have to mess with another power supply, cords and plugs. Can just drop it in my briefcase and go. Some folks have complained about difficulty peeling the backing off the tape. If you work at it by peeling the label off the backing, you will find it is much easier. The labels work great for file folders, which is the use for which I bought the PT-65. So much easier than having to fire up a computer and a printer. The QWERTY keyboard makes finding the right key an easy task. And learning how to do CAPS and numbers, symbols, etc. is pretty intuitive, though it does help to read the instruction book. Once you read the book, you won't have to go back to it. All in all, a nice piece of work, Brother. And Amazon's price can't be beat. Terrifc deal.

BEWARE
As recommended by the manufacturer (Brother) I returned the machine and ordered another model that would serve our needs better. Then Brother Co. charged me $50+ as a restock fee. I'll not buy a Brother product again.

PT-65 P-Touch Home and Hobby Labeler
This is a wonderful little gadget that I got on sale. It is easy to use and the more I use it the more I find it indispensable. Whereas before I might have scrawled a heading on a file folder, now I make a nice, neat, easily readable label that makes my files quickly identifiable. It is an excellent alternative to the Sharpie pen for labeling family belongings. Little children adore having their names printed and applied to their jackets (or arms). The PT-65 runs on six! AA batteries but they last for years and the tape is quite long as well--26 inches I believe. The PT-65 can print in capitals and lowercase letters in one and two line formats. There are also a variety of other characters and numbers. One can buy other more expensive models but I think this model is a better buy for the average user. I can see how a fancy model with more colors and fonts would be more helpful for a business. My only complaints are that it is difficult to peel the backing off the tape (impossible for a child who doesn't have good fine motor skills), there is quite a bit of blank tape left on either side of the printing, and the tapes are relatively expensive. My labeler did not come with a manual but it can be downloaded from the Brother P-touch site. I do recommend the PT-65 as a handy little office tool that makes labeling effective and fun.

Very Pleased
We have had this model of label maker for over 13-years and found that it does more than the newer models, plus it has outlasted them. The reason for buying another one is that we had a newer model and it had a leaking battery completely disintegrate the metal connecter at the corroded end of the battery. I was so grateful to find that I could still get this model - and yes, it was much more expensive than the newer models since it is no longer being produced, but like I said, it does more - has more font sizes, and it will use the same size label tape that we already have. The newer models use a different type of label tape now, which also costs more than what we currently use, so we'd have to maintain two different types of tape if we'd purchased a newer, less expensive model and pay more for the tape in the long run.

Works Great!!
This thing works great!! If you are looking to just do cat5/6 cables, don't bother with any of the more complicated labelers on the market. This unit is very simple to use.

Very short battery life
This labeler would have been perfect if you could plug it into an outlet, or battery life was longer. Every feature is excellent. However, the battery life is maddeningly short. It seems like batteries only last one day, if not less. I don't use it a lot - just for my home office, so it's completely unacceptable. Seemingly every time I charge them, it works fine when I put them in, and next day batteries are dead.
