BOOM....BOOM....BOOM....AWESOME!!!
This is an amazing subwoofer seriously powerful and looks fantastic in any room. The Echo Sub is simply beautiful in every aspect, from the packaging that it arrives in, to the design and the build quality is outstanding and it looks like an expensive piece of equipment. It was very easy to set up using the updated Alexa application and can be paired with one or more devices like the Echo/Echo Plus or the Echo Show, however for 2.1 sound you must ensure that you are paired using two or the SAME devices, for example, two Echo Plus's and the Sub or two Echo Show's and the Sub as you cannot pair it with one Echo Show and one Echo Plus at the same time, however, this is NOT a negative and makes complete sense to be able to achieve a balanced and immersive sound experience. I paired it with two Echo Plus's and then two Echo Show's and the experience was outstanding!I also paired the Echo Sub with one Echo Show and afterwards with one Echo Plus (2nd Generation) and both combinations were also very impressive. The Echo Sub is heavy and by that, I mean the weight of it and I would recommend that you place it on the floor and not on a shelf for safety reasons.I have found that even at low volume whilst playing music on either the Echo Show paired with the sub or the Echo Plus and the sub, the bass is there and added a whole new dimension to the audio experience, pushing the volume right up on both configurations resulted in a window-shaking experience that almost made me feel uncomfortable in my bedroom setup, that is not intended to sound negative as it is actually an endorsement of how powerful this subwoofer is and not because there was any distortion whatsoever, but purely because it was so powerful it was excessive and I would say that running at full volume would be perfectly acceptable in a much larger room environment or if you were having a party or even put outside for a barbecue in the summer.Amazon has created such an incredible subwoofer that for the price I cannot at this point see it being rivalled by anything else and this is a fantastic addition to the Echo range of products and if you love your music this is a "MUST HAVE"

Place it correctly for your room and it's excellent.
Bought brand new but on ebay at a good price. Was a bit worried not getting direct from Amazon but the sub was indeed brand new and boxed. Set up was fairly easy but it did take a few minutes and a reboot of the alexa app before it was all synched correcly with two 2nd gen echo units. Did not sound fantastic while setting it up right in front of me but after moving to about 3 metres behind me and adjusting the controls it is sounding extremely good. Can't go as loud or as low as my main audio but gets plenty loud enough for 99% of my needs. If thinking about one and dithering just get it and if it's not as good as you hoped send it back.

Pretty Good
Ok. Been hmmmm'ing and arrrrr'ing about getting one of these for a little while, reading the mixed reviews and thought I would just give it a go and see for myself, so I finally went for it.I have just gotten mine, 1-2 hours ago, so am gonna do a first impressions review and will update later as I play more sounds through the sub and decide if I am gonna keep it or not.First, this thing is heavy, they have stuffed a LOT of stuff, in a small space here, but to be fair it is pretty small really and looks quite good, just a shame it only comes in black really.Packaging, fab, it is really well packed, inside the box it even comes with it's own carry/store/dust bag which is really good, the whole thing feels really well put together and really well packaged and presented.Pairing, was an absolute piece o cake, for me at least, so no trouble there, literally took 60 seconds, and I was playing music through it, paired to one of my Gen 4 Echo's.Sound, seriously, I kid you not, this is a little beast, as many other folks have said, basically overpowers pretty much everything, so you have to mess about in the Alexa App to get it to calm down, I have mine sat on the carpet to help absorb some of the thumps, and even with it at -6 it is proper thumping, almost too much to be honest, but hey, some folks like it that way I suppose. Some of the noise is just that, noise, it seems to distract from the music and over powers some of it, so, it sounds a bit flat and muffled in places, I have fiddled with the settings on the app, but as other folks will tell you, the single biggest failure and let down of this device is the complete lack of ability to control it independently from your linked device. So, you have no real control over the sub in terms of power or output, you cannot simply turn it off or disengage it if you are playing something lighter or need something a bit gentler and need to kill the constant thumping or drowning out of the mid tones/treble tones, though I suppose you could just unplug or unpair it, but what is the point of that, it just becomes a very heavy giant lego head paperweight then. You would, of course, not need to turn it off if you could control it directly, you could just turn it down a bit, but you have no control over it in terms of Bass or Volume, which to be honest is a serious oversight of huge proportions IMHO, and this, despite it clearly being a quality bit of kit, makes it a terrible choice in some setups/places and makes it harder to live with as it lacks any real flexibility in daily use, in short, the software is rubbish, and this really is the fly in the ointment here and really am suprised that Amazon have not sorted this out cos this is a huge, constant, complaint from pretty much everyone. The other niggle I already have, I cannot directly control the volume from the Amazon Music app, I have to keep switching between Alexa and the Music app or talk to the Echo, which of course reduces the volume and interupts the song/music, none of which of course are so bad, but which again, makes it fairly frustrating to use. Again, I feel let down by sub-par software, and when you consider the amount of cash many of us pay for Music/Prime etc, and the amount of cash we all spend with Amazon, it is really not good enough.Overall, some stuff sounds really quite good, other stuff sound dead and flat because it is suffering from thump overkill, there is no balance to it.I want to love it, I thought it would be nice addition to my Gen 4 Echo's and dots, I am just not sure at this point if I can love it and am not sure if I am willing to just, put up with it.Will update things over the next couple weeks before I decide if I am keeping it or not.UPDATE:So, have had it a week or so now, and decided to hook up both my Echo Gen 4's to the sub and it sounds so so so much better, using only one of the Echos the sub was just overpowing everything. Most stuff, sounds pretty good, some stuff still sounds a bit flat and sometimes a bit odd, but overall, really quite pleased with it and would recommed it to folks with the advice that when hooked to a single device, it may not be a great experience, depending on the type of music you like of course, cos it just overpowers everything is quite unpleasant, but hook it to two (not sure how this would be with Echo Dots as they are smaller) devices, such as an Echo or Studio and it sounds pretty good. Not quite loving it, but rather, I really do quite like it, and will be keeping it.

Impressive sound
I have some pretty serious esoteric audio equipment in the house and really enjoy proper sound.I have two 5th gen echo dots (the ones with clock displays), connected in a stereo pair in the main bedroom, one on each of the bedside tables.I have placed the echo sub under the bed and have linked it to the two dots using the standard Alexa app functionality.Every time I listen to this little system, I am blown away at how good the sound is from this relatively inexpensive set up.My wife and I really enjoy Sunday mornings lying in bed listening to, and feeling our favourite tunes. Can't recommend it enough.
