What's the difference between bifocal and reading glasses? With standard reading glasses, the entire lens is magnified to a specific diopter (1.00, 2.00, etc.). Our sunglasses are designed to be worn constantly so only a 1-1/4 x 1/2 in. area at the bottom of the lens is magnified to that diopter for reading or close-in detail work. The rest of the lens area doesn't have any magnification (0.00 diopter) so they're technically referred to as bifocal lenses.
