Great speaker for the price and worth going refurbished
I noticed these speakers for a very tempting price and decided to buy them even though I wasn't in the market for speakers. They are very competitively priced and well worth the money. Amazon renewed did a great job with repacking all the contents and made the unboxing experience feel brand new. For $30 off, you're not really giving up much besides the switch from a 1-year warranty to 90-day warranty. Generally, you will not need to use the warranty beyond the 90-day mark anyways. I felt that they performed well for cinematic and musical audios. When I compared these with JBL 5-inch bookshelf speakers, these actually performed better offering more of a surround sound and offering a richer sound where the overlapping sounds felt like they were coming from different sources rather than a single source. The Bluetooth capability while offering every audio input cable possible (RCA to 3.5mm, RCA to RCA, optical cable) making these the most complete speakers you can find at this price. The $100 price really puts them in a class of their own and I commend Edifier for not cutting corners anywhere. However, once you enter the $150 speaker market, they lose their edge to more recognizable brands. If you're someone looking for a pair of speakers worth the money, these are it. However, the 3-inch speaker *might* feel underpowered, but it makes up for it in clarity and rich surround sound experience. The setup is also very simple. Attaching the speaker cable to both speakers and plugging them in did the trick. The remote is crap because it doesn't send the signal to the speakers always, but not necessary. I can live without the remote. It comes with

Exdellent sound for such small speakers - perfect for playing VINYL!
Purchased these for a bookcase so I could listen to my vinyl records. Excellent, clear, robust sound. Great buy for the money!

As good as new in sound and appearence
I purchased these speakers for my office (About 200 square feet) and they are perfect. Not only do they sound amazing, but they also look incredible. I like the look without the speaker guards so my pictures show them with that guard removed.I was slightly trepidatious about purchasing a refurbished pair, but I could not tell that they had been refurbished. They were packaged just as if they had never been out of the box, the speakers looked brand new, and there are no problems with their functionality. My only slight complaint was they were a little difficult to pair with my iPhone 7, however once I got them paired they have worked flawlessly. I was close to giving up in regards to getting my phone to pair with them, but I am glad I didn't. My advise: Be patient with the initial pairing process, it will be worth the slight frustration if you even expirience it.

Be careful
I’ve ordered two since I liked the first one so much. First order had the subwoofer output and it came with a nice remote and also had an extended range sound mode that could be turned on/off ( kinda cool). Second one I ordered was a refurb ( trying to save some money) but it came with a cheezy remote and no extended mode. Still sounds good but I wish I’d spent a little more and got exactly what I ordered the first time

These sound GREAT!
I LOVE the sound quality on these speakers. They have nice clear highs, and a warm midrange that is easy on the ears and, even when playing turning up hard rock. They have as much Bass as you could expect from this size speaker. I cranked these up for my buddy, and he was impressed enough to order a pair for his garage. Don't get me wrong, these are not audiophile speakers; they just sound great to me, unlike other more expensive speakers I've purchased.I use these in my office almost every day and no issues. I bluetooth my iphone to them mostly, but I have an AM / FM tuner connected to aux for radio listening, and for use with my whole house FM transmitter.

Saved thirty bucks. But should have bought new
First, I wanted to go into why these speakers vs the other Edifier ones and other powered studio monitor or bookshelf speakers. My Vizio TV has okay speakers. But I wanted something better. I looked at soundbars especially from Yamaha (one model used to be sold at Costco and was very well reviewed went for 100 bucks renewed on Amazon). But then I did some more research and came across the Edifier brand. These appealed to me because of their svelte design and good looks, and the versatility with the Bluetooth and optical in option so I can use them for all my home entertainment and even skyping on my computer. And the reviews clearly indicated these studio monitors produce objectively more and better sound than soundbars.Between the R1280 T and R1280DB (this one) the latter has optical in and Bluetooth and a different remote. The remote is what kept me from going with the R1750 actually (for $150 new). The remote on this one has an on/off button which actually matters a lot. Now I can turn them off easily, and also the R1750 apparently has an "always on" bluetooth pairing that switches to bluetooth whenever it's paired -- and anyone can pair, at any time, of course! Only the R1850 ($200ish) has a versatile remote like the one in R1280DB. And the included remote itself works well for these purposes. Now on to the sound. They sound great! I'm no audiophile at all. Just wanted quality sound. And half of sound for me and most casual listeners is probably also appearance. These meet the bill on that front.Mine came with a chip on the veneer. Not very visible and I don't really mind it, but it's not ideal. See attached picture. One question asked here was about the warranty. Note that both Edifier and Amazon have a clearly noted 90 day warranty, as attached. This alone is reason enough to shell out the twenty more bucks to buy new. Lesson learned. Also wanted to note the purchase experience. I don't do the one day shipping which puts a ridiculous strain on delivery people. But Amazon got me these speakers within one day of purchase. So that's nice. Came well packaged too. And it felt like they were brand new minus the chip.Overall, they are good speakers and I'm glad I did my research to get these R1280DB ones specifically. But the different warranty is a deal breaker. And the chipped veneer somewhat.I may return these and get the same ones new. For $30 more, it's worth shelling out a bit up front just for Edifier's warranty, which seems to be quite good for a manufacturer warranty.

Sounds really good!
I did my research before buying this system. I am very happy with! I would definitely buy again. If you are looking for a rich and full audio system that can fill a large room this is it! Such a good price for the quality.

Speakers came REALLY early, n plays like brand new
Order came hella early, no damage to shipping or speaker defects. I know they're refurbished but they look and play like brand new. Definitely worth saving the extra money on the refurbished versions.Speakers are LOUD ASLL, the functionalities and little EQ settings on the speaker make it real punchyy. Perfect for making ur room shake...or WHILE ur room is shaking ifykwm ;)). Although I bought these speakers for my record player, the lil extra money on the bluetooth functionality makes these the perfect designated 'room speakers.' It's everything you rlly want in a speaker for an exceptional price, cop em dawg.
