Rainbow Imaging M42 to Micro4/3 adapter
I bought this M42 adapter in order to use a few old screw mount lenses on my new Olympus E-P3. The adapter is solid, locks securely in place on the camera, and lenses fit securely on the M42 mount (correctly oriented, too!). This adapter ensures infinity focus, and it works very well! I keep my old Meyer-Oreston 50mm f/1.8 on it all the time as a great compact intermediate telephoto lens, and I have a second adapter on the way to stay permanently mounted on my 135mm f/2.8 as a compact super-tele! The adapter also works well on my friend's Panasonic AF-100 camcorder and GF-1 camera.

Works perfectly for me...
Now I've only had the adapter for one day, but I've had the opportunity to test it on a GH2 with three different M42 lenses (Yashinon 50 1.4, Vivitar 28 2.5, and a generic Panagor 85-205 3.8)...and the adapter has worked perfectly. No problem with the aperture bayonet hitting the flange for me, I've had perfect control of aperture on all three lenses tested. No problem with the flange in any way (as per the 1-Star review here) lenses were screwed on, held in place nicely, and screwed off without issue. I plan to test on more lenses, and I'll update this review should I run into any problems...but at this point this seems to be a wonderful product at a even better price!

Can't beat it for the Price
For the money this can't be beat, very solid construction, very nice finish, looks like a high dollar adapter. Obviously this isn't a smart adapter so all adjustments will be manual but that worked perfect for my needs. The only complaint is there is a ring that needs to be adjusted to allow infinity focus on some lenses, it uses three very very small flathead screws to release the ring and allow adjustments, I found it was almost impossible to pull the ring out and tighten it back in place evenly around the adapter. I'm glad that there is at least some feature to allow adjustments as neither of the lenses I used could reach infinity focus without it but it could use some polishing. Overall, very solid product that works nicely for what i needed it for without breaking the bank.

A functional adapter
I purchased this adapter for use with my Olympus E-P1 Pen. It's worked exactly as expected in the 30 days I've owned it. The adapter itself seems reasonably lightweight for its size. I have an array of Super Takumars passed down to me and this has allowed me to use all of them. The ability to use classic lenses on my camera has been nothing short of fantastic. I don't have trouble reaching infinity focus with anything I own. The aperture dials on the lenses end up positioned on top as expected. The bayonet action between the adapter and camera body feels smooth as do the M42 threads. Simple and effective, it works for me. The adapter I received is completely anodized black rather than having bare aluminum M42 threads (as shown in the product picture at the time of this review). Cosmetic difference only.

Better than expected
The M42 to MFT adapter is honestly better than I expected. I was really expecting a plastic body with metal mounts due to the low price. However I was surprised that this is a solid and durable feeling adapter. I honestly think the camera mount would fail before the adapter. If that's what holding you back, don't let it. Really decent product. Flange distance is correct and the threads are proper pitch. I really have nothing bad to say

My old Takumar lives again – thanks, Fotasy!
Nothing much to say except it worked perfectly out of the box. I have not used or seen any other adapter so I can't comment on its construction in comparison to any other brand, but it was among the cheapest I saw on Amazon and it seems very well made, with a nice anodized finish and well-machined innards. It clicked into my Lumix G3 perfectly, and my old Takumar 35mm 3.5 screwed on effortlessly with zero play. My old lens, which was sitting unused for close to 40 years, has a new life! I did not have to adjust anything with the tiny allen wrench that was included either – infinity focus was no problem. And the electronic viewfinder in my Panasonic G3 "gained up" when I stopped the lens down so I could still see things perfectly. So far I am very happy with this piece and would recommend it.

Wow! It did the job.
My landlord knocked on my door and handed me an old Yashica Lens. Another tenant had moved out and left it behind. Now what? I called my photography mentor and he said "buy an adapter". This M42 to MFT did the job. It is a high quality zoom lens. Manual focus and no image stabilization. The aperture can be controlled by the camera body but not a MFT body so it is full manual with the Fotasy adapter but what great photos from my GH5.

Crops and softens the image
This is my 1st (and last) experience with a low cost m42 to micro 4/3s adapter. As you may know micro 4/3s already has a cropped sensor meaning you get a small scope for photos to shoot as it is (as opposed to full frame) this adapter crops it even further to the point that it’s completely impractical to use a m42 50mm lens for anything besides certain macro shots of products and even then only a quarter of the image will be sharp and the rest outside that small zone will be blurred (softened) outwards. I am a beginner photographer so i didnt learn of this phenomenon until AFTER purchase. Part of the solution is getting a m42 to micro 4/3a “speed booster” adapter INSTEAD of this- at least this is what i read- as this will improve the image result due to lowering the focal length and decrease the amount of cropping compared to using this. A speed booster is more expensive though and I dont own a vintage lens worth the investment of that yet so personally im skipping these adapters altogether and getting a native prime lens
