Osborne 253 Gooseneck Webbing Stretcher Upholstery Tool : Arts, Crafts & Sewing Review: Works great; watch out for the spikes! - Who knew repairing your own furniture could be so satisfying?! I bought this webbing stretcher, a staple gun (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B094Y89LFQ) and some staples (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B0171PS684), a staple puller (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B07DNF34JJ), and some new webbing (https://www.desertcart.com/dp/B08V9FFK7T) to fix an old sagging couch. The kids and I flipped the couch over, pulled out the old staples and cut the old webbing off, replaced the webbing in an afternoon (or faster), and now the couch sits like new! I've gone on to repair another couch and a chair with this same kit. Fantastic. Make sure you order plenty of the webbing - it's cheap, and a real bummer to run out halfway through. Review: Good value - Good tool, great value. Built to do a tough job fast and easy.

Worth every cent
While I may never find another use for this tool ever again, it was well worth the money spent. Our set of wicker furniture is old and the webbing under the cushions was cracking. (I was envisioning a scene from a TV comedy routine where our guests are one by one, falling through their chair seats and disappearing!). I did some research and found a local shop that could replace the webbing, but for around $100 per chair.... That would have been nearly $1000 just for the restrapping! After viewing some YouTube "how to" videos, I decided to purchase this tool and tackle this project ourselves. (As you can tell, my husband got roped into this project also, but to save this kind of money, he was very happy to do it.). I spent a total of $160 for all supplies. As with most projects, there was a learning curve with the first couple of chairs. Then we got the knack and were able to finish the others fairly quickly. This job would have been impossible without this tool! There is no way to stretch the webbing enough and hold it while securing it without this. This tool looks like it was lifted from some old torture chamber. It is a simple handle with spikey teeth embedded in one edge. If you are as new to using this as I was, find a YouTube video and see how it works, you'll save tons of time and effort. An additional note: the original webbing that became brittle and broke with age was a rubberized strap. That stuff is expensive. I'm not convinced we will continue to use this furniture enough years to make that kind of investment worthwhile, so I bought an alternative black plastic webbing. I had wondered if the black gauze-looking webbing would hold up, would it unravel after cutting, would the clips just pull through when sitting on it? My fears were unfounded, the cheap black webbing worked beautifully! Success! If you find this review helpful, please let me know by using the voting buttons. Through the years, I have relied on reviews to make smart purchases and now I'm trying to "pay it forward" by helping others with my reviews. Please let me know how I'm doing with your vote. Thanks!!

Does the job
It's expensive for what it is, and for what I hope will be a once in a lifetime job, but it sure makes easy work of stretching jute over a drop-in seat. I just need to figure out where to store it in case I ever need to redo the chairs.

The handle gives great leverage and the short distance from tines to pivot ...
I bought this for my first project. I watched a few videos using the less expensive type that has the tines on one end and the rubber part on the other. I had visions of impaling myself! Even on my first try, I was able to stretch the webbing very tightly with one hand and staple it with the other. The handle gives great leverage and the short distance from tines to pivot point (rubber)reduces slipping. Good tools make the learning process much easier. This was worth every extra penny I paid. Success with this first job (dining chairs) has given me the confidence to tackle others so I will get more use out of this tool than I might have the other.

A Horse of a Tool !
I had a project of re-upholstering six diningroom chairs for the Boss Lady. Never done such a job before. Watched YouTubes, bought webbing and this tool, and I was off and running. My cost in re-upholdstering the chairs (fabric and padding from Joann's Fabric Store,) webbing and this tool from Amazon, and a heavy duty staple gun from the hardware) was perhaps $55 per chair, whereas a shop would ahve charged me close to $200 per chair. Once I learned from the YouTubes, I did the work using the tailgate of my truck as a workbench !

Necessary Tool
Great tool for doing webbing on our 100 year old dining room chairs. Well worth the money! Easy to Use, we are in our early 70’s, but recommend for anyone!!
