This is a very easy collar to set up. Easy to follow illustrated instructions. Comes with an additional one-year warranty - so I feel confident this is the right choice. We got a new puppy and so far she is reacting positively to this collar. I have it on low and she is behaving as I would hope! The collar is a bit flimsy, but I don't think I will need the trainer on her long enough for any problems with it!

It just falls off the dog while doing very little. Has a plastic clasp connection that is fine for the collar, but where the strap connects to e collar itself is similar to a watch band. Except it doesn't wrap all the way around the pin, so it can literally just pop off. Have had the collar for a few days and have now had to go find the collar several times. Just now had it pop off while the dog sitting still turning head side to side. Its unfortunate design because overall I like it. Only other complaint is although it does have vibrate and actual shock, its all the same button. So to go from vibrate to shock, you have to change the levels. Vibrate is on 0, shock starts at 1. So if your level needed for the dog is 6 or so, you have to press the up arrow 6 times to change from vibrate if that hadn't worked. Extra step that messes up the timing in certain situations.

I got this for my elderly neighbor for his new dog, and so far it’s been great. The setup was very easy, and the remote is simple to understand and use. The adjustable levels make it easy to find what works without being overwhelming. Overall, it’s been a really helpful training tool and has worked exactly as expected.

Worked for 2 weeks and then the collar kept coming apart at the crappy "J" strap connection to unit. Then it would not charge anymore. I called petsafe and was told a replacement collar with the new strap would be coming. No confirmation email, and no replacement shipping info. Online chat is demanding $5 to talk to a tech, which I already have talked to one. Petsafe I have used happily for years for The radio fence. I would suggest a different brand if you want one of these trainers. Update: I called petsafe and after a long hold on the phone a helpful guy came on, understood that the collar no longer charged and the strap kept popping off and he said a new unit would be sent to me, no problem. 2 weeks later no verification email so I called again and was told there was a glitch in shipping and she said she would expedite the order, which she did. I just got the unit works fine, but it is a much bulkier model than the original with a single strap instead of the clip-on halves of the old one. They just kept popping off. This is a better strap, but the unit is much larger.

I used this on my dog this week, the vibration is enough to make him listen or pay attention when I’m calling him. He doesn’t seem to mind it, didn’t yelp at all just knew he was getting too far away. The batteries seem like they are going to last for a while so it’s nice not to have to charge it every night, it was also easy to use and a good size for my 20 pound dog.

We've used a variety of training collars for our Pit-mix but the ones we've purchased just seemed to focus on the "shock" and fell short when we needed a warning; a buzz, a sound, anything. We settled on trying the PetSafe Pro Dog Trainer because we saw it was waterproof which is fantastic, especially when our pup is a lake dog! Not only did the collar hold up in water, it held up underwater, in continuous water and didn't affect our dog whatsoever! We have only had to charge the collar twice since purchasing and it doesn't bother our pooches neck. Set up is simple, and the remote has great range. We haven't had to use the "static" mode yet but our dog has responded very well to the vibration and sound. It's super comfortable for the dog and gives us the piece of mind that we can keep him close by when necessary. This thing is a God-Send!

I purchased this collar in September 2025 for my puppy. Unfortunately, it has been a disappointing experience. From the start, the collar constantly comes off my puppy, even when properly fitted. The design does not stay secure, which makes it unreliable for training. More importantly, the unit no longer works. After fully charging it for over 24 hours, the collar shows a blinking red light, will beep, but no longer delivers any static correction at any level. The device is clearly malfunctioning. I am now past the return window, so I am stuck dealing with a nonfunctional product that did not last long at all. For the price and brand reputation, this is unacceptable. I would not recommend this collar, especially for puppy training where reliability and safety are critical.

This collar is pretty fancy, the digital remote was a big surprise for me. I love all the settings it has. The battery has lasted a few days now. It was very effective on teaching our dog the boundaries of our yard, and how not to run to the door every time it’s opened.
