Sturdy, universal mount; works with all our tablets, including brand new iPad Air 2
4/3/18 UPDATE: All righty, it's now been over three years since I purchased the K&M 19740. I am gigging with it and using it for rehearsing regularly. It has yet to do anything but serve me well. The springs are still holding my iPad Air 2 securely. It also holds other tablets just fine. I'll reiterate that aligning the holder with one of your mic stands' legs will help the whole assembly to not fall over. Stands with heavier bases instead of legs don't have the tipping problem. This is one of my happier, most satisfying purchases; I use this puppy nearly daily for music; it also works great to hold the iPad for video calling! So handy. The price is higher than some other models, of which I have three gathering dust. I'd still absolutely choose this one.The K&M 19740, which I've had now for a couple of weeks, is the third holder I've used for music purposes. The other holders, though fine for the bigger iPads, wouldn't work for my recent upgrade to an iPad Air 2. I chose the K&M model in hopes that it would work for many different iPads/tablets, as I'd rather not have to buy a new holder every time I upgrade my iPad. Happily, I think this will be the last holder I need to buy for a long time. It securely holds the Air 2 and the older models, too, and I'm guessing it will work fine with future upgrades. There are enough adjustable dimensions that it's hard to imagine what sort of tablet type thing *wouldn't* fit.In addition to universality, this German-made item is seriously sturdy. It comes with a five-year warranty. It holds the iPad Air 2 very securely with padded, strongly spring-tensioned arms. The iPad is not going anywhere when placed in this holder, even when bumped. I appreciate also that rotating the iPad from portrait to landscape mode is easily done without having to loosen anything first, and the iPad is never at risk of falling during rotation. The one caution I'd point out is that, due to its sturdy nature, this unit is significantly heavier than some others. If mounted far out on a boom stand, care needs to be taken to prevent the whole shebang from tipping over. Aligning one leg of the mic stand with the angle of top boom takes care of that problem for me. Usually, though, I've got the holder mounted on the lower part of the stand. No problems, there.Assembly took some patience; it's not hard, really, just not whiz-bang quick and intuitive to put together. Read the instructions attentively, take your time following each step, and you'll do fine.

THE One to use for the Kindle HDX 8.9
I received a Kindle HDX 8.9 for Christmas and have plans to use it as a "fake book" when I play, using the Songbook App from the Kindle Store. I tried several other holders and sent them back because my Kindle just wouldn't fit into it, or, when you use it in portrait mode, there's no support on the bottom...the others depend on the pressure from the sides to hold your large tablet in place in portrait mode. I just didn't feel safe with that. But THIS one had everything I need. It has a support that goes under my tablet in portrait mode...it safely clamps my Kindle HDX 8.9 in place with a lockable spring-loaded clamping system...it clamps onto my mic stand just fine. This unit has rubber on all the surfaces that touch your tablet to keep from scratching it. AND, it allows me to put my Kindle HDX into the clamp with the cover still on and folded back. It absolutely fits the Kindle HDX 8.9 perfectly and provides the proper support. It can be adjusted into any angle you need and comes with a detailed (albeit complex) instruction booklet in English and German. Now, as others have mentioned, it does weight about 2 pounds and you will need to have a tripod or other sturdy mic stand to support it safely. And, yes, it is one of the more expensive tablet holders on the market. But it's built like a tank and I expect to use it for many years...and it does EXACTLY what I need it to do. There may be others that are adequate if you have an iPad or a smaller tablet, but for the Kindle HDX 8.9 or other large tablet, this is the one you want.

Works great with a thick case!
Assembly took a few minutes. This holder is SO much more secure and useful than the cheaper "Ultimate" holder I tried. It fits my 5th Generation 9.7" iPad in a moderately thick dual layer case with room to spare. The spring-loaded foam padded cradle arms hold the iPad gently but securely. It seems pretty unlikely that it would slip out in portrait orientation but the metal hook arm means you can be absolutely sure. The stand clip section seems overbuilt and reassuringly heavy. The cradle arms are made of plastic, so I won't be leaving this on my mic stand all the time and tossing it in the back of my truck (the way I do with the K&M clip-on drink holder).Still, I haven't seen any other device out there I would rather be relying on for using my iPad to read music in high-pressure situations. It is convenient and secure and with some care in handling I expect it will hold up.

This is the one to get if you want to be able to keep your tablet in its protective case and use a wide variety of tablets!
Incredibly high quality universal tablet holder. Head and shoulders above many others in build quality although there are a couple of cheap plastic pieces that may eventually break. Even the cheap pieces seem more robust than most other stands I have looked at. Marking it down one star because the locking rotation feature means that unless you keep it exactly perpendicular with your body, it appears to be a bit angled or askew. In other words, if you like to angle your tablet slightly towards yourself instead of sticking out at a perfect right angle to the mic stand, you cannot angle it on the horizontal axis without it appearing slightly out of level across the top. Although the locking rotation (four positions) at first glance seems to be a good idea, it would actually be better if you could either adjust it or if they did away with the locking rotation entirely and allowed you to freely adjust the rotation wherever you wanted. The other issue is that they should probably include a 4th restraining bracket/claw so that there is no orientation in which the tablet can slip out in the event it is knocked just the right way or something gets hooked on it. However, it does grip the tablet well and the chances of this are low, but you know how Murphy's Law works. Love the fact that it accommodates a huge variety of tablets with the case and screen protector on. Overall I highly recommend this product, especially if you would like to keep your tablet in a protective case while it is on the stand, very well made.

Ottimo

It works well and is well built.
I use this to hold an iPad for Zoom etc. And for that with a Mic Stand or Music Stand it is excellent. Maybe some would have a little faff setting it up the first time???K&M make really good quality products. If I was swapping in and out different sized iPads etc. I would use their other model. But this one does exactly what I want. :-)

Excelente calidad.

The PERFECT Ipad holder to use with an Otter Box case
Arrived fast as hell with 2 day Amazon PRIME shipping.I needed an iPad holder for my iPad 4. I have the Otter Box cover on it. It is heavy with rubber and plastic and water proof. I needed to upgrade to this case for live gigging... drunk people in front of the stage can run into it, spill something on it, possibly knock it over. I included pics to show how thick the case makes the iPad. This holder has thick enough grips that it holds the iPad with the case easily. I have other stand holders that would never hold the iPad with the thick case. The holder itself has a strong steel arm that holds the assembly very well. It can be positioned easily to suit your needs. My mic stand has the iPad holder, drink holder, pick holders etc. This holder is a tad pricey but seems heavy duty enough to do the job. I have gone through 3 other kinds of holders to date. So far so good. For you gigging musicians- Get an otter box case for your iPad. Then buy this holder. Use My lyric Book as your app.

Sehr stabile gut durchdachte Konstruktion
