UPDATE: Good While It Lasted
Everyone thinks I have a FitBit. It's not a FitBit, it's a Sky Buddy. Are they the same? I'm afraid I don't have one to compare. Do I like it? Yes, I do, but there are caveats.VIDONN APPThe Vidonn app works on my iPhone 4S, but there's a lot about it that isn't explained. I get a score and a grade. The score keeps going up, but I don't know what it means, except higher must be better. I started at primary grade. I haven't advanced, but I don't know what I need to do to advance. The step score isn't really a step score. I can shake my wrist to make it go up and there isn't any way to calibrate it like a pedometer. I prefer to think of it as an activity score. This gets recorded and charted in a bar chart, along with the sleep score. There's such a thing as sharing, but I don't know where it's sharing. There's a place to enter our personal information, but I'm not sure what it's used for. Whenever I go to it, it resets to default. Is it ever stored anywhere? I'm told it is. I tried to register online to see what's there (maybe where all the sharing and storing goes), but the registration email that's sent to me is flagged by Kaspersky as a phishing email. Email support for the app is poor.SOFTWAREI didn't try the PC software because it didn't work on my Windows 7 system. Windows flagged it as a problem with the driver certificate not being registered.WEARING THE SKY BUDDYI have a very small wrist. The band is adjustable and fits just fine, but I make it loose, because the prongs on the band that hold it in place rub against my skin and irritate me otherwise.I can wear the Sky Buddy 24/7, except when I'm charging it, which is about every other day or so. Charging only takes fifteen minutes in a USB port.It is rated IP67, which means it is protected from dust and submersion in water up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. I've washed my dog, showered, washed my hands - no problem.I can read the time, "steps," and Calories burned on the bracelet. It will vibrate to let me know when I've disconnected from Bluetooth or when I've reached 10000 steps. I can even set an alarm through my app and it will vibrate at the appropriate time.SLEEPThe Sky Buddy doesn't actually know when we go to sleep. We have to tell it what our bedtime is and it records how much movement we make during that time. Most of the time, it tells me I have bad or not good sleep.OVERALL IMPRESSIONDespite all the drawbacks, I really like my Sky Buddy. I love that it records my activity 24/7. I don't have to take it off and it never falls off. I can sleep with it, shower with it, wash my dog with it.I wish I could figure out what the score and grade mean. The software and site registration definitely need improvement before I could use it (and I'm a little leery of the phishing warning and driver certificate warnings, to be honest); but it beats wearing a pedometer hands down. Pedometers fall off, I always forget to put them on, I can't wear them in the shower, and they don't record my data in an app.I'm struggling with the rating. It's definitely not five stars - too many deficiencies. On the other hand, I use it every day. The things I don't like about it, I wouldn't use even if they worked. Sharing? Never. PC? Not. I'm so sorry that it's not ready for prime time. I love it. I really do, but I feel like a beta tester. Improve the documentation, language issues, software and app. This could be five stars. This product was provided for review by Hausbell._______________UPDATE 4/25/14: Sharing within the app now shows Twitter and Facebook. I don't use it, because I don't like sharing my life with Twitter and Facebook, but the option is there. At least now it's clear where we're sharing.UPDATE 6/17/14: I've been wearing the Vidonn every day since I've gotten it -- 24/7, in the shower and everywhere. It is the most useful fitness product I've ever owned. They just updated their app, and I've changed phones to the HTC One. Now, it's better than ever before. There is no confusing "grade" or "score." I get steps (in graph form and hard number), kilometers, Calories, and a graph of how deeply we slept (still just the time period we program in for sleep). Sharing is now via Facebook, Twitter, Weibo, and the Vidonn personal center which I haven't visited since I my initial attempt. For something I love so much and find so useful, I think it deserves better than the three stars I initially gave it. I'm going to bump it to four stars.UPDATE 7/11/12: Once again, my enthusiasm was premature. A problem occurred after some app updates. My phone suddenly started receiving photos from unknown sources in my gallery, personal photos from people I didn't know and artistic illustrations. I would delete them but they would reappear. When I looked to see details of the photos, they were stored in the Vidonn app folder. I deleted the photos and disabled my Vidonn app and the problem was solved. That's a little unnerving.Secondly, the button on the bracelet broke, exposing the electronics underneath. It still works, but because it's no longer waterproof, I can't wear it 24/7. That was the beauty of the thing, so I no longer wear it.For the app and the durability, I now lower the rating to two stars.

Non-Mandarin reading Android users beware.
This device does not really support Android. After a long discussion with the developers, they have no time estimate when the official app will be released but it was supposed to be out in September 2013. It does work on one Samsung phone but after the update to Android 4.3, the Bluetooth stack changed, and now stock roms support Bluetooth 4.0 BLE but Vindonn has had trouble getting it to work on anything besides the Samsung phone they developed it on. Also, the website and documentation is all in Chinese. If you want to get support don't bother with email or calling them unless you speak Mandarin. If you need help, you are going to have to use QQ and go in to their chat room and use Chinese. There is one super friendly developer on there that eventually told me my best option was to return it while I still can.
