Allows manual control and also automated control on any decora switch
Adds manual independent control of a switch, while also having the ability to have it automated. Using for kitchen lights, it's on a 3-way circuit (two switches). When the switch is turned on, it's status is reported in my home automation system (Homeseer 3 Pro). Took two tries to add it to the network, but I often have that issue with other modules.I can't report a review on battery life yet, just got them today. Batteries are included.I also ordered the dual-gang version of this switch to add to the other 3-way switch, and to automate another kitchen light. What i'll do then is set up an event to turn them both "off" if they are both in the "on" position, which will still keep the lights physically off. It's nice to see the visual status of the switch. These fit perfectly over the existing decora rocker switches, none have neutral wires behind them. You can hear the motor actuate the switch either on or off, but it's not too loud for the area where these are located (kitchen/dining room). And there is a small sensor that senses the position of the switch to report real-time status. Note that this sensor will only work with this motorized switch installed and aligned. I was able to install this and have fully functional without any special adjustment.**Below is a comment of other brands of products, not reflecting this actual product**I had the lights automated before, but used a GoControl scene switch, which then controlled Ecolink inline modules in the light fixtures (where there is neutral). They rely strictly on Z-wave and sometimes have a long delay before they turn on or off, which can get annoying.

My house wiring sucks
I had to buy this because I have almost no switches with neutral wires. That means all of the other switch replacements won't work (I will not buy anything from Lutron). I needed something that had battery to power the internals; doesn't seem to exist. So I went with this unit, which is battery powered, and goes over your current switch. It connected after a few tries, but wouldn't push hard enough to turn the switch back off. The company wasn't much help but there are two adjustment screws (glasses sized) that I played with until the unit could turn the switch on and off. Battery lasts only a few months it seems, despite using the switch like twice a month. But after a few tries it connected and stayed connected to the Samsung Smart things hub.Hopefully someday soon someone makes a replacement SWITCH that works with no neutral and LED bulbs (IE uses battery to stay powered). Until then this big ugly chunk of plastic will have to do!

Easy to assemble, works as advertised
Works as advertised. It was easy to assemble and to pair with my SmartThings v2 hub.We have 3 light switches at our kitchen at different locations and I wanted to enable that if any of these switches was turned on and off it will do that for the other 2.I used a GE ZWave light switch for 2 but the last one had no neutral wire so instead of pulling one I got the ecolink and it works great.Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is that if I don't use the ecolink switch and it's gets a message from the other switches it has a delay of about 2 seconds. Lukcily that switch is the main one we use so the delay to the others is minimal.

Sometimes simple works best!
We travel alot and wanted to be able to turn our furnace on remotely (after we leave if we forgot and before we return so the house was warm when we arrived). Our oil furnace controls do not work with 12-volt wi-fi thermostats so I had no way to do that until I found this ZWAVE Smart Switch. I hooked it up to the manual vacation switch on the furnace and now we have a way to control the furnace remotely. Battery life doesn't seem to be an issue. It was simple to hook up and works perfectly!

Gets the job done
This is a great way to add automation to a "dumb" decora light switch where you don't have access to a neutral wire. My gang box was too shallow to use a lutron caseta switch and I wanted to go Z-Wave anyway. Some people complain "it only turns on or of, not both" and that is simply not true. If you were to test it not yet installed on the wall I can see why you might think that. It senses when the physical switch has actually been flipped. It's hard to test on/off without actually installing.Docked 1 star because because it is pretty loud when it activates the mechanism to press the switch. Can be a bit scary in a quiet dark bedroom in the morning. It is also a bit more delayed than a typical zwave switch but overall I am very happy for the price.

good option if missing neutral wire - works with Vera
It's not clear from the description but this fits over a "decora" switch. After I received this, I needed to run to a local store to purchase a decora switch as it will not work with a regular toggle. It paired fine with my Vera (plus) and works okay. The motor is a bit noisy. It's a good option for a switch with no neutral wire

Easy Zwave switch where there is no neutral wire
When I changed all switches at home to Zwave (with the superb ISY994i hub), there was one switch where it was impossible to connect a neutral wire. This Ecolink switch is the perfect solution. Less than 5 minutes to install, easy to include to my ISY994i Zwave mesh network (one try) and it even looks smart. As someone else commented, no idea about battery life as I only installed the switch today.

Perfect in every way!
I have a fireplace on/off paddle switch which looks like a Decora switch but is actually a low DC voltage switch. Unfortunately, a 'Smart' switch to replace it is non-existent. But, I found this little gem! It's super easy to install, and works absolutely perfectly. Use with Alexa, Smartthings, on an Eero Pro network. From start to finish took maybe 5 minutes. Super product! Very highly recommend!!!
