Imagine a tarp, but with arms.
It will keep you dry! Amazon suggests I talk about the comfort, and I don’t know if wearing a boxy tarp is comfortable, but it IS functional. Color was blue as shown. Style? It’s a boxy raincoat. It did come in its own little storage pouch, which I kind of found to be kind of useless. Just attach it to the raincoat and call it a packable raincoat. The hood is adjustable, has a drawstring and is big enough to have a hat underneath. Elastic wristband. Zipper placket to keep the wind and rain out. Quality? Hard to say- Almost never gets worn so I can’t speak to durability. Fabric? Well the material that I referred to as “tarp“ is actually a little more flexible and has kind of soft flannel interior, but it’s like the thinnest flannel material ever. Not knocking it, that’s just the way it is. This is definitely better than a plastic bag poncho- I got it on sale, and I feel like the sale price was the right price.

Almost perfect
The Frogg Toggs Ultralite 2 is almost the perfect budget, packable rain jacket. Your experience is going to depend a lot on the temperature you wear the jacket in. I bought a men's large; I'm 6 feet tall, weigh 200 pounds. I found the sleeve length and overall length to be just right. There is a bit of extra room throughout the jacket but it didn't really bother me. I can see that being handy if you wanted to wear this over another jacket. The material is light weight and I can see the concern about the jacket holding up over time IF you don't take just a little extra care with the jacket. At the price this sells, I don't find that unreasonable. I'm my 6 mile hike this morning I went through a little bit of brush, had my pack on and off a few times and never had anything close to tearing the jacket. Here's where we lose a star but it might not be that way for you. I wore this over a tshirt on a 65 degree, rainy, humid day. I sweat a lot inside this jacket. The extra room inside the jacket should in theory help get some air moving but the problem is that other than the zipper, there's no where for that to happen. The elastic cuffs are the big downer for me. They seal tight to the wrists. I'm not a thick wristed guy either. There is no way air is going up (or down) your sleeve. The result for me was sweat soaked cuffs from forearm sweat and a generally hot experience wearing the jacket zipped. If the sleeves had velcro like the Xtreme Lite jacket, this jacket would be perfect. With that said, this knock of a star at 65 degrees in humid weather could be a big bonus in sub 50 degree wet weather. It could be the layer that saves the day keeping a cold hike comfortable. Because of that, I'm going to keep the jacket specifically for cooler, wet days. I'm going to try an Xtreme Lite for weather more like today. Good price, light weight, extremely packable but just a bit hot.

Works great to keep you dry, but feels like you're wearing a re-useable grocery bag.
Works great to keep you dry, but feels like you're wearing a re-useable grocery bag. You get what you pay for, should be about $5 cheaper just because of the feel of it, the material is not very movable and stiff - feels like a re-useable grocery bag. Also will tear easily, just pulling buttons off to open almost ripped it. However, it does keep you dry and doesn't seem to trap heat the way a plastic rain poncho would - so does what intended. 10-11 dollars would be a fair price for the item. I'd buy another for family member if.was cheaper. I would not want to wear this for an extended amount of time or for any physical activites.

Lightweight
Overall: a good buy if you need cheap, lightweight water and some wind protection. Pros: This item is lightweight and folds up well, so it is easy to pack. Definitely waterproof and a good windbreaker as well. It survived the Seljalandsfoss waterfall in Iceland--going behind the falls and kept the wearer dry. Cons: Not necessarily a con, but it is lightweight, so you need an extra layer of protection for cold temperatures. The material is canvas like, so it makes noise when you are walking and in high wind.

Full of holes
The jacket arrived new in original packaging. I purchased it because the word-of-mouth in the backpacking community was VERY good. Waterproof, breathable, extremely lightweight, and inexpensive. I wore it to work the next day. I noticed a weird crease on the back and when I turned it around I could see a hole on the inside. As I held it up to examine it more closely, the light from the window behind showed several more holes. There were holes in the fabric AND the seams. If this what quality control looks like at Frog Toggs, I don’t want any part of it.

ALWAYS TRAVELS WITH US
If you are looking for a very lightweight jacket that won't take up room in your suitcase, this is perfect for you. We bought the complete suit (pants and jacket) over 10 years ago for each of us. The sets have had multiple trips all over the world and are wonderful to pull out when weather gets bad. My husband's jacket finally wore out but pants were still good so I was so glad to see I could just order the matching jacket. Whether you have the jacket or full set, they fold down into a small packet (included). We will never travel anywhere in the world without our Frogg Toggs. Let's be honest: they are not fashion statements. They are work horses for bad weather without being heavy. When the weather is cool, they are even roomy enough to go over jackets or sweaters but a perfect weight for warmer climates. We have worn them when it was raining on the great wall of China, on ferries or ships with wind and rain; actually everywhere in many climates in Europe. We stayed completely dry when others around us were soaked. They are roomy so you can order your actual size which lets you wear them in any climate situation; cold or warm. We actually keep an extra set in our golf bags for inclement weather when we travel in the States. You will never regret buying Frogg Toggs. For the price, they are truly a bargain -- and a life savior.

Way too big despite being the same weight and height as the model shown wearing a ‘large’. Will return.
