Water pumping when you need it, if it will fit!
Our basement must have been built in the path of an underground stream. After a big rain, water will continue to come into the sump for several days after the end of the rain. Basement flooding is a certainty if the sump pump isn't working. So AC power, or no AC power the sump pump must continue to run! The AC-powered pump component is typical of good quality flooded pumps, powerful and quiet. But it is the DC-powered backup pump that sets this unit apart. We've had other DC-powered backup pumps, but they typically fell short. We have about a 7-foot lift between the top of the sump and the ground surface where the water is discharged. The other backup pumps would run, but strain to remove the water. Not so this pump. The backup pump design is very similar to the primary AC-powered pump and takes only about 30 seconds to empty an 18" round 30" deep sump against that 7-foot (minimum) head. In a recent test following a 4" rainfall event, the backup pump was needing to empty the sump about every 3 minutes during the peak drainage. It ran on battery power (admittedly off a 100-amp-hour AGM battery) all day and through the night without any visible drop in the battery voltage until there was no more water to be pumped. With one caveat, installation is easy, primarily because the plumbing interconnecting the two pump units is built-in. The caveat is that the base of the unit is massive, with the two pumps mounted side-by-side (instead of vertically as many of the lighter-duty units are). We have an 18" circular sump and it just barely fit - in part because while 18" was ample for the center of the unit, the corners just barely fit. We did make one alteration. We are charging our battery using a high quality, stand-alone charger. Why? The main limitation on battery life is likely to be how it is charged (or, if things don't go right, overcharged). The built-in charger may be OK, but given the cost of the battery, we thought investment in a computerized low-amperage charger was a reasonable one. The good news is that the pump control electronics built into the battery box work fine with the AC charger cable detached. The charger type makes no difference when the backup sump pump is actually running, because, by definition, the AC power will be off at that point anyway. Given its solid design and construction, and that it seems to do the needed pumping with little evidence of effort, I'm expecting this unit to keep us dry for many years .

Very quiet and powerful, easy to install.
I have installed several primary and backup sump pumps over the years in different homes and decided I would give this one a try when we built our new home this year. The pump the builder provided was just a primary pump and was noisy. This Wayne pump is the quietest I have ever heard. I paired this with a quiet check valve and all you can hear is the faint sound of water flowing through the pipes. The battery backup pump is actually slightly louder than the primary pump but its still quiet. One thing you need to be aware of is that the backup pump when activated runs for a pre-set time which I believe is like 20 seconds. This is a long time for a sump pump. I would guess they do this to help maximize battery efficiency. In any case you need to make sure you have the float on the backup pump set much higher than the primary pump which means moving the float all the way up onto the exit pipe above the pumps. Once you do that it will be fine. If you do not do that you will be sucking air into your pump which is not good. This instillation was simple just as the product information says. Be careful with some of the older reviews as I think the pump has been upgraded and changed slightly over time. I’ve had the pump installed for about 2 weeks now and we have had quite a bit of rain this week and the pump has done well. I also turned off the electricity and tested the backup pump and it worked perfectly. I purchased the Wayne battery they recommend for use with this pump. This pump is a great option instead of the traditional primary and backup pumps installed separately.

Suburban sub 40 year old Father/DIYer
I bought and installed this 3 years ago. I’ve had no issues this entire time. Installation was so easy because everything is pre-assembled and easy for you to prepare the fittings prior to install. We are on low ground between our neighbors so we get a ton of water entry into our pit every spring (including right this second). This thing has worked hard and performed wonderfully. I have the Wayne battery and check valve as well and I’ve had no issues with either. The check valve is my only concern since it has a ton of failure points and has plastic components and relies upon rubber couplings. I did have a TINY bit of water finding its way out of the check valve but that’s because I needed to tighten the nuts against the rubber gasket. Fixed the tiny issue in 30 seconds. I do exercise the backup pump every once in a while so it doesn’t seize. All in all, a fantastic product.

Bought a year ago, quiet, powerful and amazing!
Bought the "WSS30V combination sump pump system" about a year ago. After a year of use I think I can give it a proper review now. First things first, packaging looked really good and things were held well and no parts were damaged. Having this all in one kit was exactly what i needed and it is at an attractive price for what you get. I had quoted a few specialists to add a backup system to my sump pump and they all tried to upsell various things. After doing some research I found this kit solved my major issues. I wanted a redundant pump with a battery backup, I wanted a quiet pump that won't vibrate the house, and I wanted reliability since our sump pump gets a lot of use after heavy rains. I hadn't done PVC plumbing before but was quickly able to figure out installation on this with some youtube videos. I also upgraded my check valve to a silent check valve. When I hooked up everything and did a test run I was amazed at how quiet the pump was. I could barely tell it was running. Tested the battery backup and pump and those operated very well too. I did put the battery box on an elevated shelf. Left a hose running to visualize what kind of flow rate it could keep up with and i was impressed. Since installing this pump I was worried it will get louder with use but in the year since it has been installed we've gotten perhaps 4 storms with 1000-2000 total cycles each time and the pump is still whisper quiet. I test the backup every now and then and it works well too. Haven't needed it yet, but i've let it run for 1 hour after a storm and it kept up no problem. It is such a nice feeling being able to sleep in peace during a storm and not worry as much when traveling. When it is time to replace this I'll probably just buy the same kit. Thanks for such a great product Wayne.

Good product but customer support should be better
It's a good, quiet pump and was easy to install. However, the reason I did not give it a 5 is because of poor customer support. Twice I reached out to the company via email thru Amazon product support, but there was no reply/response.

Peace of Mind
The unit installed quickly and easily. Everything, besides the pipe, is included for the install. Being a Wayne pump the quality is very high. The 1/2 hp AC main pump moves a lot of water quickly. The powerful motor would have no problem lifting water up a long rise. The pump is nearly whisper quiet and check valve is quiet as well. One thing to note, the DC backup pump activates with a switch, but runs for a set time instead of turning off when the pit empties. As some have mentioned, using a different battery charger/maintainer is advised. I contacted Wayne directly and they recommend only sealed batteries to be used with the charger since the charger is always in charge mode. This may boil away all the acid in regular unsealed batteries and shorten the lifespan. One could theoretically constantly monitor the battery solution and top off as necessary, but this seems like an easy thing to forget and ruin a battery. Given the relative inexpensive nature of a good battery charger/maintainer this seems like a no brainer. While not cheap, the unit gives a homeowner great peace of mind for when we are out of town and not able to start a generator if power is lost.

Purchased used for a substantial discount - and works very well
Nice complete unit - made it easy to install. I cut out the old system which had custom PVC piping and two standard check valves. In addition to two hidden built-in check valves, this new unit came with a new standard check valve, which I installed just above the new unit with the included hose clamps. And in my installation I added two elbows and some PVC pipe to line up with the original pipe that runs outside. I like that the backup pump is very substantial. Installed it with a new standard deep cycle battery from Costco, which is what I had used with the previous backup. I tested the new backup pump with the battery for a short time and it worked very well (way nicer than the tiny old backup pump). I don't know how long it will run on backup power, but I figure several hours. I have a YoLink vibration sensor on the pump that will alert me if the sump pump runs longer than normal (in my case it runs about 10 minutes then rests 1-3 hours during wet periods). The whole setup has been installed for 6 months, and has worked very well.

Easy to install & very quiet
I had big concerns with my original sump pump. We have a 4 1/2 year old home in a subdivision of new homes. My neighbour’s sump pump failed this past spring and had a basement flood. His house was only 3 years old! Every time it rained, I could hear the sump pump kick on noisily and I had to replace it before it failed too. After some research, the Wayne dual sump pump seemed to be the best option. I watched a couple of YouTube videos and it seemed fairly easy to install. The instructions say that it can be installed in about 15 minutes. I’m slow and careful and it took me 2 1/2 hrs to install a new GFI outlet and the new pump. It’s a good idea to clean out the bottom of the sump of any dirt deposits before installing the new pump. I scooped out most of the wet dirt with my hand and then Shopvaced the little that remained. After installing the new pump, I tested the backup first and then plugged in the main pump. I was really impressed at how quiet the new pump is. I don’t hear it any more from upstairs! It’s been a couple of weeks since I installed it and we’ve had a couple of major rain storms and it’s worked like a charm. I highly recommend it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Powerful and Surprisingly Quiet!
This sump pump works flawlessly. It kicks on quickly, moves water efficiently, and does the job without any loud rattling or vibration. I was impressed by how quiet it is—you can barely hear it running, which is a huge plus compared to my old pump. Installation was straightforward, and the build quality feels solid and durable. If you want a reliable pump that’s both powerful and quiet, this is an excellent choice!

Peace of mind
I decided to get this sump pump one night when it was raining heavy and my current pump was running every 4-5 minutes. (I could hear it from the basement) It was 10 pm and I wondered to myself, ‘what would I do right now if the pump quit at this moment or the power went out?’ I don’t know the age of my old pump as it came with the house when I bought it a few years ago. So I decided to research sump pumps and after reading reviews from customers and professionals, I decided to get this one. It was more expensive than others, but the cost, and headache, of repairing a water damaged basement is so much more. Install was easy. The only thing you have to know, is that they don’t tighten and screws or nuts on the supplied backflow valve. So be sure to check those. Mine was leaking initially until I tightened them up. The unit is amazingly quiet. Even standing over it while it is running, it’s hard to hear it. Other than the sound of water as it’s being pumped through the pipes. I really like having the battery powered backup pump. Sets my mind at ease now when it’s raining, not worrying about a power outage or main pump failure. That alone is worth the price.

Well made and works great!
I found the unit to be well made and compact in design. The pump will move alot of water and is virtually silent. I bought a battery locally and am impressed with the run time when the power is out. If you have extended power outages buy the largest battery that will fit the supplied battery case. The audible alarms are useful but not very loud. Overall, an impressive unit that is worth every penny.

whisper quiet pump
great pump - easy to install, I took my time no big rush and made it look all neat as I was installing. super quiet, I never hear it run. the batter back up will be a game changer when the power goes out. I bought my battery from a local Battery Experts location good service. the battery is good for 6hrs of continuous run time. not cheap either! The battery alarm is loud so I will need to silence this as it is in a "bedroom". only now the alarm is loud because I was testing it when it was installed. It would be nice if they had a feature to either turn the alarm volume down or silence it if you wanted this feature.

Should be able to handle a torrent of water.
The unit has been in my basement sump for a month. The primary pump is very powerful and quiet. Have had no reason to use the battery operated back up pump. Upon installation, a problem with the battery box controller occured. The self test failed, blew the 20amp fuse. The company was contacted and a replacement controller was ordered. After the company got my address and name spelled correctly, the controller arrived and was installed. The self test worked. The big test will be when the hydro (electricity) fails.
