Can be lost easily
Haven’t had to use the glass breaker part in a real life situation, just on empty bottles. It works, the whistle is nice and used to wrangle my nieces and nephews or play with them. It’s nice and sturdy, has a great feel. It is small and can be lost. Overall a nice addition to your EDC

Small enough for EDC; gotta blow VERY forcefully to get whistle volume up.
First, it is indeed tiny BUT thats exactly what makes it great to have as EDC item. As it is a small volume whistle, one must blow forcefully to get good volume. This, a AAA flashlight, and a small neck knife make a great "Trinity" to have on at all times. Any larger and heavier just reduces chances on one having it available-I'd rather have a small glass breaker immediately when riding with others than a huge full sized one sitting unavailable to me in my vehicle.

Cool, but...
I am going to keep this and put it in a go-bag, but I am not convinced it is entirely useful. The whistle is very high pitched and will not carry all that far and definitely not as loud as other emergency whistles I have blown. Also, it is a metal whistle so unsuited for very cold weather, unless you want it stuck to your lips. The ferro rod is pretty small, and so is the stash of tinder, but I think I could definitely start a fire with this. The tinder, a small piece of steel wool, is good for one use. The rod will last for a bunch of fires, but it is pretty thin. Interestingly, it is threaded. I don't know if I could find a replacement, but it is replaceable, which is always nice.In any case, I'll toss this into a kit that I hope to never need, and I may not see it again.

Surprised
A little smaller than I expected. The glass breaking features seams limited. The item is very light weight. Not sure it would be effective. But, it is compact and is easy to carry and pack. Being new it is very tight and difficult, at first, to separate. Cautiously recommended.

Another great product from SOG
I have not had the problems others have written about. Doesn't come apart in my pocket, and the ring is solid and has not come apart. Two of the three screw in compartments are sealed with an o-ring. The fire starter produces significant spark and it comes with the steel wool tinder, but I will replace that as steel wool attracts moisture and rust. I will put a small ball of cotton soaked in 100 percent petroleum jelly as that is an awesome tinder and it does not attract moisture. The whistle is not really very effective, but will alert dogs. I have another whistle I carry constantly, so that wasn't a deal breaker for me. I have not tried the glass breaker, but feel it will work well. I will try it out next time I see a junked car. It would work as a self defense tool if you know how to wield it, which most people don't. Fits compact into the hand and is easily concealable.

Great TSA Compliant Device
This is smaller than I expected; it's 4 in. It weights almost nothing. It has a great high DB shrill whistle. And I just discovered, a little bit of steel wool tinder. I also searched the TSA website and can't find anything that would exclude this from carry on (I update if that turns out not to be true).

Great Pocket EDC Tool Just in Case You Ever Need It
I've been carrying this for almost 6 months and really like it. I haven't needed to use it yet, but it's got everything I might need from driving to work to hiking to hunting. It's incredibly light weight and is also good to fidget with when I'm reading stuff in the office. It breaks apart easily and reassembles quickly. Hopefully I never need to use the glass breaker, but it's built solid if I ever need to.

Absolute junk!
This thing is a joke. First off the whistle is more like a dog whistle than a safety whistle. I tested it against a normal adult talking level voice and my wife's voice was louder than the whistle. The glass breaker is useless because the entire thing is shorter than my hand is wide. It may work as a glass breaker for a pre-teen sized hand...And the Ferro rod...... First let me tell you I have used Ferro rods for 25 years. I have started hundreds of fires with one. This rod is so tiny and short and THREADED into the handle. Yes....threaded. and being how it's so small to begin with I'm going to say it's less than 3/16 of an inch at the threads. It has a very weak spark and I feel like if I put any more pressure on it to try and get a better spark it will snap off at the threads. So basically all 3 functions it's supposed to have are all useless.I own a number of SOG products. A few Fixed blades, a couple folders, a machete, a hatchet, a saw, a couple packs,A few mag pouches, and some other odds and ends. I have always been satisfied with there products. This one was a big let down and a bigger waste of money.......
