Portuguese Decorative Tiles: Azulejos Hardcover – July 1, 1998

Book is brief and provides little depth of description. Not really worth the price I paid and having to wait several weeks for the book to arrive.

Beautiful book that arrived in excellent condition!

Wherever you go in Portugal you come across hand-painted tiles. You can find them in churches, monasteries, palaces, railway stations surface and underground, but also decorating modest dwelling places. This richly illustrated volume will give you a general picture with specimens from different centuries which reflect different periods, like Baroque and other vogues. Worth buying if you can afford the price.

This book is informative and brought back many wonderful memories of a trip to Portugal and admiring the tiles.

紹介されている場所数は少ないながらも、写真は美しく、紹介されている場所も価値ある場所が多く、現在のところ、そのアズレージョの魅力や図案の見どころポイントを説明してある文献が少ない(ポルトガル本国のポルトガル版は分からないが)なか、とても貴重な本国だと思う。この本を読んで明快になった部分もある。ただ、本書で紹介されているとても美しい場所が二、三、個人所有となってしまい、一般には見られなくなってしまったのは、この本とは関係なく、残念な事である。
