Compulsory reading for Forster fans
Already a fan of E M Forster, & this tale did not disappoint. Written years earlier, but only published posthumously, the eponymous protagonist awakens to his homosexuality at a time when it was still considered an illness - and absolutely illegal. Social disapproval weighs heavily to exacerbate personal bewilderment, yet still an affectionate relationship develops. With remarkable sensitivity, Forster depicts the hazardous rites of passage which confront so many - presumably inspired in some degree by his own adolescence.

Magnificent
I read this book after watching the movie and I loved both. The way it describes the condition of LGBTQ people in early 19 th century was just so tragic and heartbreaking. The character of Maurice broke my heart into tiny little pieces, I will never get over it.

A journey most people have been through
Considering the timeline, this is an amazing novel. Growing affection between two men from their 20s to rest of their lives, is a non stop read for any reader. The love, the heartbreak and finally Maurice's journey for his quest for love and truth are so heartfelt. On the other side, Clive's marriage is a bitter bite of so called civilized society which still goes on.

Was waiting for the past 12 years for this book
I already have the movie DVD of this novel. I mainly love the way Forster expresses the emotions involved in a homosexual relationship. This is very important as most of the people look homosexuality in a sexual way only. Even this love also has strong potent emotional content involved, so was curious to buy this novel from the time I read about it in Wikipedia.

Isn't it a high price?
Five stars are only for the book. Loved it. No question about EM Forster's writing or the novel. But the price of the book irritates. High price. Why did Penguin Classic set such a high price? No idea ! The first thing, when I received the book, came in my mind is that, Oh my gosh it's too much (Rs 449) for this pretty little book !

Perfectly written and balancing nice story
The story of Maurice was just constantly at balancing level. It was nice experience to read this novel and I liked it as well as loved it. Really beautiful novel.

A must-read by EM Forster
This is a very beautifully-written book by Forster and worth reading multiple times. It was published posthumously and talks about same-sex love back when it was looked down upon by the society.

Excellent ending
Is this a book review or a review of receiving a book? Either way, the book was in excellent condition and the story itself was excellent. I did have to mull out some of the phrasings but that's just part of the excetment of reading. I was pleased that, considering the topic of the story, it didn't follow the ending trope most of these stories do. Quite refreshing. I'm planning on reading it again.
