Do not buy any other brand. This is perfect.
I saved a couple of dollars buying a generic brand before and that tubing leaked at every joint. Make sure you buy this brand and this product so you don't have to re install all your tubing like I had to.

A little bit stiffer, but much more secure than alternatives
This is high-quality tubing and a great option if you are having trouble with leaks or have a higher pressure drip irrigation system. I had previously tried the more flexible and softer MXC brand, but found that it could not securely hold at joints, especially under hot sun. This Rain Bird tubing is definitely stiffer and slightly more difficult to work with, but it is very much more secure and will save you having to rip and replace the lines you thought had been easy to lay but now keep coming apart. It does tend to want to keep its cooled shape, but a little bit of flexing in the other direction straightens it out. And if you intentionally bend it, it will hold the shape. I was so frustrated by my earlier choice that I replaced it all with this and double-barbed connectors. It hasn’t given me any problems since. Even in the couple of places where I ended up having to use single-barbed connectors, this tubing has also held up fine. Those who say this tubing is difficult to work with must have extremely low water pressure or no sunlight. Otherwise, I can’t imagine being satisfied with anything less than this product.

A little lighter eases the pain.
Works great. So hard to press on to fittings but I found a little bit of heat helps out a lot. I just use a simple litter to warm up the end before pressing it on. Works great.

Not what i expected, but works
I was expecting a much more flexible rubbery plastic based on the pictures, like a vinyl. This is a more rigid plastic which will kink. The finish is rough and textured, not smooth as shown. I think it's legitimate product based on the oem description. The best 1/4" line I've found so far is "mister landscaper". It's very flexible, never kinks, you can tie it in a knot. It does have a tendency to pop off some of the undersized budget attachments in direct sun after a year. But, it is super easy to get to stay where you want it. I have sections i haven't touched up in 7 years. It's also 3-4x the price. This product on the other hand has a tendency to fight you, because it wants to retain the curve memory. You have to be more careful going up and over the edge of a raised bed, because it will trend to crimp rather than bend if you start running out of slack. I find lengths have to be more precise, because of the lack of flexibility and the tendency to spring back. It will take a fairly tight radius before it kinks, as pictured. Once kinked though, that spot will fold over much easier forever after. It does hold the barbed attachments well, but will need to evaluate if that holds true an entire season. I usually get a few years before i need to cut a fresh section of the mister landscaper line. I would say this is much better suited to the barb connectors not the thread in emitters. The outer diameter being narrower doesn't clip into the stakes used with the thread in style. They do seem too thread in tight enough though. I haven't tested under pressure, and probably won't since a 90 or 180 degree emitter needs to stay where you aim it, and i don't want to mess around with zip ties when other products work.

Purpose specific tubing.
I usually use scientific tubing, the generic clear stuff, because I never knew anything different until I wanted something stiffer. The generic clear tubing is awesome for low pressures and drip watering a lot of plants because the emitters can be placed without the tubing trying to retain its shape too much and moving it after placement. This is where the Rain Bird tubing fails at, its stiff and hard, its not easily placed at the base of plants. However I favor this tubing because of its rigid factor. The Rain Bird tubing is far superior with spray emitters and higher pressures. With higher pressures, emitters will come flying off of the scientific tubing if they aren't super glued on there. The Rain Bird tubing holds them in place but this is also an issue because it holds them too well and I have to cut the emitters off for cleaning or changing types! However, this tubing is durable, rigid, etc, it stays upright when I mount it on cane poll while scientific/chemical tubing droops over. RainBird Pros* *Rigid and retains shape *Retains emitters *250Ft for a fair price! Cons* *Emitters have to be cut off! :( *Very stiff! Scientific Tubing pros* *May or may not be cheaper depending on where you shop. *Very pliable. *removable emitters Cons* *Emitters blow off from high pressures! *Droops over when mounted vertically. Picture included for details.

Not for me
I Don't like this. Stiff, coiled and difficult to work with. Setting it in the sun doesn't even help.

Rain Bird has a good reputation for irrigation products. As a homeowner with flowers and shrubs to irrigate, I have used Rain Bird products successfully. The price on Amazon was competitive and it was at my door next day.

Works great so far, still in the process of laying it out and have not tested it as of yet, but it's a very sturdy product, easy to work with. I expected in to soften quite a bit laying in the sun but it stayed rigid while still allowing the curves to work out.
