You need to cook them and they are great!
I saw some reviews that stated they were stale, however the product title clearly states they are uncooked so I took my chances. I first tried Fox nuts from the little seasoned packets you can get at Whole Foods for like $6. I thought they tasted good and was hoping for a more economical way to eat them, so I bought these. Out of the container, yes they tasted “stale” with more of a spongy texture, however I still kept in mind the title said uncooked so I figure there has to be another step. I took some and tossed it with a little truffle oil, salt, and rosemary, and popped it in the air fryer. My first attempt I had the temperature too high at 350° F however lowering down to about 250° for 5 minutes and they are perfectly crispy don’t taste stale at all. Would highly recommend!

Stale and awful.
Just had fox nuts for the first time at a friends house. Just ordered these. They were not even as tasty as packing peanuts. Such a huge disappointment. And I was so embarrassed meeting some new friends, and this is what I brought. Mortified and humiliated.

Tasty
my mom used to give us this during my childhood and occasionally in different sweets. I and my siblings always loved it with other nuts and dry fruits. Now I have been using it for my little kiddo and he loves it. I tried from different brands and the local stores but found this one tasteful and soft and fresh. Highly recommended.

I’ve purchased the Rani Jumbo Phool Makhana multiple times, and while I truly enjoy them, I do find them a bit on the expensive side. The packaging is impressive and keeps the product fresh, but I think there’s room for cost-cutting here that could help lower the price. These popped lotus seeds have a delightful crunch and a light, airy texture, making them a perfect snacking option. They’re a fantastic alternative to traditional chips and snacks. The flavor is subtle yet pleasant, allowing for versatile use; I enjoyed them plain, but they would be excellent tossed in a salad or used as a topping for soups. For those who prefer bolder flavors, a bit more seasoning would elevate the experience. Overall, Rani Jumbo Phool Makhana is a healthy and tasty snack that I’ll definitely continue to buy if they reduce the price.
